I was in Asda earlier and a lady (early 40's) was talking to her daughter while pushing the trolly with the grandson, who was sat in the little trolly seat. He was poking his Grandmother to get her attention. She turned around to the toddler and said (and I quote) "Keep doing that and Grandma will punch you in the face".

Incredible.

Was she from Glasgow?

You can't get all your shopping in a Tesco Metro.

Changing milk? What?

Our dairy does lovely milk, 50p a pint though - not extortionate, but not cheap.

But all the major supermarket brands get the milk from the same dairy!

I've just switched to goat's milk. Was relieved to find it didn't actually taste any different to what I was used to at all. :D

EDIT: That's not annoying me, sorry. :(

No they do not.

Also Supermarkets now source much of their milk "locally" So tesco's milk may come in from a local Dairy, but Sainsbury through National Distribution.

Sainsbury and Tesco especially do not like there big suppliers supplying both with own label. They think supply issues would mean they would not get priority.

See, You know alot more about this than me Bob, for obvious reasons, so there is no way I'm going to question you. However I have to admit after long conversations with my Father in-law pver the years (who is a big(ish) wig at Dairy Crest), I did think otherwise. This link seems to mention it too - http://www.dairycrest.co.uk/our-busines ... tions.aspx

You are right with that business supplying brands into the Supermarkets, cheese, spread, milkshakes, all with big brands and big marketing budgets.

I don't know any more than I have said, it is very hard to actually know who is supplying own label products, like milk, into the Supermarkets, the label always stays the same, with the Supermarket address, so I don't know.

Robert Wiseman plays a major role now, post the "monopoly" of the Milk Marketing Board.

It's Friday, I don't care.
