Not so much annoying, more of a nuisance. I've been invited to a big party just south of Birmingham for all my Sevilla friends, so I'd really like to go but travelling at a reasonable cost is proving very difficult. From Aberdeen to Bidford-on-Avon...ouch!

You could probably get a cheaper flight to Barcelona & back

Apologies, that wasn't my intention :)

It just makes me laugh how these National Rail franchises can justify the rail fares they charge yet you can fly abroad for nearly bugger all.

The only thing I can think of is if you get a student discount card you can get a lot of money off, if your under 25 of course.

I'm Scottish... eh... yeah, moving on swiftly.

I'm Irish... ahh crap. Lost to the Aussies. At least Scott McDonald played well without getting on the scoresheet.

I'm Polish... whoo hoo, beat the Greeks 2-0.

Being multi-cultured does have its benefits.

What's annoying me today (well yesterday now), it's not England's draw with Holland, oh no it's this:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article ... eover.html

This has been in several papers other than the heil as well.

I have to say what a load of old bollocks, honestly, I mean I haven't read the Beano for about 15 years now but even so I feel they've really buggered up here :x

The last time this got on my tits was when they did away with 'The Fat Controller' in Thomas the Tank Engine. It's the constant meddling I don't understand, what on earth are they afraid of? If it aint broke.. :(

I grew up reading The Beano and Dandy, but I you could see this coming, not that because the comics crossed any line (I mean, the worse menacing he ever got up to was blowing his pea shooter at the local policeman), it's just thats where this cotton-wool-society has ended up.

One thing though, in an 'artistic' point of view, the 'old' drawing of Dennis on the left (with the catapult and pea shooter) has so much more character, charm and energy than the one on the right. There's a world of difference.

Absolutely, the Americans called him Sir Tophat-Ham or something equally ridiculous like that. Bloody stupid in my opinion.

Again I agree, once they started doing away with Cow Pies for Desperate Dan (because it could influence children into eating unhealthily, * overprotective idiots) I was wondering how long until they got to Denis. I bet The Bash Street Kids are next, Plug is to be made better looking to stop the pain of ugly kids being called Plug, Fatty will slim down to encourage kids to also slim down, Spotty will lose his spots & Ernie will no longer be short sighted so as not to mock the partially sighted

The Fat Controller's name was always Sir Topham-Hat, right from the days before nationalisation (when the original stories were written) and he was called "The Fat Director".

I'd forgotten how fricken TERRIBLE the All Saints version of 'under the bridge' was.

All Saints never made a record - cover or original - that wasn't absolutely awful. Never Ever for example - listen to it, it has the potential to be a track with an amazing vocal, there is scope there for tremendous expression and variety there - but they just bottled every single opportunity. Basically if the vocal part generator software in the studio didnt tell them to do it, they didn't do it. I really really HATE All Saints.

Ok - the original version, by LaBelle, sayd Lady MarmaLARD too. Its supposed to be the French pronounciation.

Strangely, I think the Aguilera/Pink etc version is excellent. Some amazing vocalists having a great time from the sound of it. Right up my street.

Oh I'll admit that they had better singing voice than All Saints (much better infact) but I just hate the whole "MarmaLARD" thing. Oh well I'm just being petty anyway , I just don't like the Americanisation (spellchecker told me that Americanisation should have a "Z" in it) of the English language that seems to be seeping in over here. However it could be worse, newsreaders could be speaking in that bloody street jibe bollocks that all the youngsters seem to be speaking in these days.

It's not an Americanisation, the song is about a French woman, and that is how you pronounce it in French!

6+ hours worth of delays on Miss Yudster's return flight. Kenya Airways staff are, if what I have read is to be believed, holding illegal strike action over a 130% pay claim which their employer is refusing to countenance. I wonder why?!

Its going to be a LONG night.
