Some twat cutting BT's lines for internet services (phone services are fine) in East London meaning I along with 50,000 fellow East Londoners have been without the sodding internet since Saturday evening :x

Aww, Lottie. I feel your pain. I always get bitten by everything! One time we were hiking in a rain forest in Hawaii and by the time we were done, I had somewhere between 60 - 80 bites all over me. To arm myself in Scotland when hiking the last time, I bought "insect repellent". What a waste of money! My boy and I noticed it seemed to attract the little bastards and then because it was sort of wet/oily, they stuck to us. You'd try to run but they were plastered to your arms, neck and cleavage like little black moving hairs. It was awful.

Who are you and what have you done with the real S4B??

I couldn't have said it better myself. S4, were you so desperate to be right that you've sunk that low?! For shame.

S4B has been kidnapped and replaced by an android, she is too busy & tired to post for herself so I've been doing it for her, thought I was doing a pretty good job at spouting her usual crap ;)

According to the Tiscali customer support hotline, it was some contractors working on the Olympic site that damaged the lines and it's affected people further afield than just East London.

A worryingly weird way, I'd say; still, it's fine to admit that you need me - people generally do eventually.

Has Netcraft confirmed it, or are they down too?

Yes! I often thought clinically indifferent, incisive and wry summed you up well.

Ok - when I was still at work, my colleagues who worked in the Scottish countryside told me that for midges (or "midgies", as I believe the Scots prefer to call them) none of the sprays or repellants on the market work for more than a few minutes. However, there is a product which seems to magically keep them away, and the effect seems not to wear off. This wonder-stuff is an ordinary body-moisturiser by Avon called Skin-So-Soft, and apparently all the field operatives for SNH swear by it.

Not so much annoying me but making me sad is having to drop off Crumpet to get her a spade.

I'm assuming you mean 'get her spayed'... unless she's dead?

Argh. My friend going out with a boy I used to sleep with and having giant arguments with him that I get drawn into and not realising he's actually a bit of a twat. God damn it.

Well I can understand how the latter would be cause for annoyance at the very least - but getting a young bitch spayed is the single most humane thing you can do for her, you shouldn't be annoyed about that.

Skin-So-Soft was supposed to be a miracle worker for me in Hawaii, too. I bought 3 big bottles and was wearing it the day we hiked the rain forest. As you read above, it did nothing. That said, it's supposed to be a wonder against fleas, but I don't have a flea problem so I can't comment on whether it'd work for them either.

Well I have no reports of its efficacy or otherwise with tropical bitey-biteys, but it is highly thought of in Scotland I hear!

Well the good thing there is it absorbs right away. They wouldn't get caught in oily slicks like they did for us. It was horrible. HORRIBLE!

Ohh, Lottie, speaking of horrible -- I came up the hallway last night, flipped on the light and one of those flying daddy-long-legs type winged insects that are like 3 inches long FLUTTERED IN MY FACE! It was midnight, the light goes on and BAM. I was screaming like a banshee. The husband popped up like a jack-in-the-box and I barricaded myself in the bedroom for the rest of the night. The husband claims it's trapped in my son's room, though I think he'd say anything just to get me to calm down and shut up. When my boy comes home, I'm sending him in there.

Update on the Crumpet situation, I never said it was annoying me I said it was making me sad. She's back now, very dopey and very shivery too. Got her by the fire in a big fluffy basket.

Not so much annoying me but making me feel ill is knowing that I have my theory AND practical driving exams tomorrow so I can drive Police cars.

Although, what is annoying (I lied, it is annoying) is the fact that I am generally confident about the whole thing - it's just that for some reason exam situations make me feel uneasy which annoys me as I don't really know why?!

I was stung by a wasp for the first time in my life last night, I was amazed! I got stung on the tip of my finger and within 15 minutes my whole hand had gone numb and i had cramp pains shooting up my arm. Within 30 minutes I couldn't bend my finger at all. I took some antihistamines and paracetamol and on instruction from Mrs Zoot put my finger in vinegar (old wives tale?). Even now as I type this my finger is still numb and a bit swollen.
Is this a normal reaction or am i slightly allergic? I really don't know!

You shouldn't be sad, she'll be a much happier doggie for it. She'll be better soon, try not to worry.
