Is this the rate the restaurants are paying nowadays? I wouldn't consider that a good wage, but I guess it depends how old you are. That said, my first Saturday job paid me £1.92 an hour.

It's not that bad considering at Tom's age, minimum wage is £3.40 per hour. He could be doing a lot worse.

I am really really really happy right now because I just had my driving lesson and for the first time I didn't stall! If I drive like that next week, I'll pass my test.

I wouldn't worry too much - I stalled on my test but didn't get severely punished for it as I had learned how to recover really quickly. If you can do that you'll be OK (from my experience).
