The Star ran a story, one of those wicked whisper things, where they wouldnt name the person in question.

It was along the lines of a female radio presenter who picks her feet during her show is going to be axed in the next 6 months. Jo Whiley is well known to do the show in her bare feet.

But then this is the Star.

Having been defending Jo Whiley a bit recently, it has occured to me that her show is a bit monotonous and predictable. She plays a track then says 'That was band x who are back in the studio recording new material which I'm very excited about'. Then she plays something else that was recorded in the live lounge at some point. Then the record of the week which is a new release off of some advert. Then something else from someone who has a new album coming out in the next few weeks. And she hypes up stuff that has already been discovered by Zane Lowe or Steve Lamaq or John Peel back in the day.

Having said that, I still quite enjoy her show.

It's not that though, it's the way she always has 'exciting news' about artists, which turns out to be that they're back in the studio. Jo is the reason Radio 1 hype tracks so much and then play them to death IMO.

Because every in Radio 1 lsitens to her opinion on a track and goes along with it dont they!?

I'm sure with the amount of feedback Radio 1 get from texts, the web site message board, emails they can make decisions about the playlist comfortably enough without having to ask Jo Whiley her opinion.
