I fully get the need for removal of spam etc and Mr H wanting a regular pair of eyes scouting for offensive material, but editing known members posts 'cos you didn't see the point' is surely stretching the boundaries of modism...?

Dots are quite common on here I've found, I believe this expression is popular so as to show you are being tongue in cheek....

With suspense.... Gaps to show pauses or brief silences.... Before punchline, timing etc. I remember Ben loved using that style, but you get used to it....

I know Chris' common answer on this is "my site, not a democracy", but for what it's worth, my opinion is thus: moderators shouldn't be editing and deleting posts that genuine members post, almost regardless of the contents - the only exception to that would be if someone posted illegal or very very offensive content, which is unlikely (save for Beadle Poke). Otherwise, they should stick to deleting spam. For what it's worth. Which is almost certainly nothing.

Actually he did and does. The moderator logs show everything. You just have selective memory. (Only the other day he edited the post with the ebay auction link - the one I left alone cos I wasn't sure.)

It isn't.

If a message board is to be a success, it has to be full of things that many people find interesting, want to read or want to contribute to...If you have nothing of general interest to say, say nothing...items that only mean something to a very small number of friends do not belong on chrismoyles.net.

I will stop people from posting who persistently break...any other rules I deem necessary to enforce in order to promote harmony on the message board.
