No sweetie, what did you want to say?

Sorry for being snippy, I just get really tired of this debate.

This is not annoying. What is annoying is people calling themselves vegetarians and eating fish.

No no. I'm just, like, being posted at from all sides here. I also love Marmite, by the way. The only vegan product to contain a naturally occuring source of vitamin B12. And it tastes good too!

You're right. That is extremely annoying. Duck is correct, pescetarian is the word they're looking for.

That's fair enough, but there was some dialogue before hand on the essence of why honey should be excluded, then I think you pointed us to a page, then refused to contribute to it, we (as a collective) argued a point, you refused to respond with a personal POV and then told me why should I care? I care because this is a debate (or was!) and I love gaining some POVs (like anyone else).

I respect someone's opinion when they care about putting some effort to defending their choice. Not fob us off with some website and then leave it. It's not being snippy, you're just not participating in a discussion you placed yourself into.

Anyway, I'll end that here with this note. I love honey. Especially in crunchy nut cornflakes. :D

I just don't want to defend it, you know? I'm not asking anyone to defend their food choices, cos I don't do that. I didn't mention it to start a debate or place myself in any ethics discussion, it was just an aside about some bloody baking programme that I haven't even seen. I didn't intend to fob anyone off, but it's just one of those things. Vegans don't eat honey, and my point of view is that I'm a true vegan so I don't eat it.

If I reveal that I haven't watched any of this series of GBBO, will you all have a go at me about something? Go on, you know you want to...

I can't imagine the circumstances where I would need to kill and eat a human to stay alive. To be honest, my immediate thought is that if things are that bad, what the * do I want to stay alive FOR? But I have no idea if that is how I would feel.

I prefer not to have to kill my own meat - I am not expert in it and others are, its better for it to be done properly. The best meat is always wild meat - stuff that you hunt, or get from people who hunt, shoot and fish. That's as close to natural eating as I am ever going to get. Outside of that, I get my meat from sustainable sources, which I know are non-intensively farmed and as such I can be confident that the animal I am eating has had a comfortable and cruelty free life. Yes it got killed, but again, as long as that's done properly, I have no problem with it as long as the animal hasn't been in misery all its life.

All that means that I end up eating less meat than a lot of people because its a bloody expensive way to go, but with good local suppliers and access to people with guns we manage!

If you knew that help was on its way, but you needed to kill another person to stay alive to get that help; would you do it? Or would you rather risk it and possibly die together?

Re: Bake-Off - I love the way James just tried stuff in the hope it would work on a national TV competition and if it didn't work, turned round and said "oh well!"

I'm going to predict the answer to all those is no - and I don't imagine she wear fur either. I would, if I could afford it, as long as it was farmed or legally and sustainably hunted - I wouldn't wear seal for instance, and of course nothing endangered.

Vegans prefer fur to leather

Yuds was correct, I do not wear leather or use feather pillows (which I'm allergic to anyway). I have learned from experience that it's impossible to live an entirely cruelty free life, but I'm doing the best I can.

Anyway, in other news, it's now official and for the first time since I've been a member of this forum (and a bit longer besides), I have a boyfriend. So that's weird. But good. :)
