I'm finally making some headway with my Golden Hour project, it took me to coding an admin backend to actually bother with this...

If he doesn't mean that he lived in Preston, that's a poorly constructed sentence. If he does mean that he lived in Preston, then he hasn't lived in Gateshead all his life.

Given that he'd have been around 19/20 at the time, left school at 16 and he will have never focused on education as a priority - I don't think it's fair to pull him up on grammar & lexicon.

He was on loan at Preston for 6 months, think he can be excused for not counting that as 'living there' given he probably came home at the weekends!

Okay. You've gotta bear in mind I have no idea who this person is :) (also, nobody would admit to having lived in Preston if they could avoid it.)

My friend who is now in Australia, stories of how life is just that little bit different out there to how we do things.

Example:

Birthdays at work. We send a nice polite email to all staff to say there is some complimentary cake available to celebrate another year of gained wisdom.

In Aus...

When my cousin from Australia and her bf came over here on a gap year I was amazed by how different things seem to be there than here. I'm guessing it depends on the area of Aus - they live in Tasmania - but it was like they were culturally 40 years behind us. They thought it was acceptable to say 'n**ger' - my mum had to explain to them that if they were heard saying that in public they would be arrested for inciting racial hatred.
