speaking of simpsons.... i watched the new episode tonight and the trailer for the film. the film looked cool, but the gag in it wasn't funny. it sort of hurt. not as bad as american dad, but not simpson movie worthy.

There's a Firefox plugin that can do it.

Thanks to the wonders of Bittorrent, I've downloaded seasons 1-15 in 3gp format for my mobile phone. It's quality because the files are only about 9MB each, so if you've got a 2GB memory card (like I have) you can fit hours and hours of Simpsons on it, 'nuff for a good many train jorneys.

When you click on one of the link (e.g for '01×01 - Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire') it will redirect you to a dailymotion.com address. In that address is an attribute called url. You simply need to take that and download it.

For example, you may be redirected to:-

http://www.dailymotion.com/flash/flvplayer.swf?rev=1163366148&url=http%3A%2F%2Fww
w.dailymotion.com%2Fget%2F9%2F320x240%2Fflv%2F657990.flv%3Fkey%3Df753238d16deca29f7f515a5
90132dea127f600%26log%3D1%26log_blog_key%3D24jeAfE03pvtu2LaK%26log_referer%3Dhttp%3A%2F%
2Flinks.quicksilverscreen.com%2Fwatch-every-episode-of-the-simpsons-free%2F
&previewURL=http%3A%2F%2Fstati
c.dailymotion.com%2Fdyn%2Fpreview%2F320x240%2F657990.jpg%3F20060913215329&autoStart=0&playe
rURL=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.dailymotion.com%2Fvideo%2Fxe3pi_simpsons-01x01&estatEnabled=1&estatCl
ient=players_dm&estatSection=blog

(Split to stop screen stretching)

The bit in red is the url attribute. Just take the value and download it. For the above it would be:-

http://www.dailymotion.com/get/9/320x240/flv/657990.flv?key=f753238d16deca29f7f515a590132dea127f600&log=1&log_blo
g_key=24jeAfE03pvtu2LaK&log_referer=http%3A%2F%2Flinks.quicksilverscreen.com%2Fwatch-every-episo
de-of-the-simpsons-free%2F

%3A = :
%2F = /
%3F = ?
%3D = =
%26 = &

You don't actually need the whole of the above URL, you just need the base and the key attribute as below:-

http://www.dailymotion.com/get/9/320x240/flv/657990.flv?key=f753238d16deca29f7f515a590132dea127f600

Now, I could write an automated method to download them all, but I doubt many of you have either a *nix box or cygwin, so I won't.

Did as you said Console but that downloads a .flv file that my computer doesn't recognise. What next? (p.s. thanks for the help!)

The flv file is the movie file (flash video). You'll need a player that can recognise it; VLC can play flv files as can FLV Player (there are probably more, but I don't know them).

They've been deleted already! Darn it.

Edit: No they havn't, it's just me clicking on the videos causing it to come up with a message saying the video's been deleted.

Sidders wrote:There's a Firefox plugin that can do it.

There are at least two or three, including VideoDownloader.

Console wrote:The flv file is the movie file (flash video). You'll need a player that can recognise it; VLC can play flv files as can FLV Player (there are probably more, but I don't know them).

Or you can convert it.

Cheers David, fantastic!
