Yea, better than that crappy window. Actually this site used to host all of the realplayer links. But after a couple of words with the BBC, he changed the links to go to the listen again windows. I cant see what the big problem was, becuase you couldn't download the shows. Well....

Thanks Very Much, I know this is off topic but if there was another show say for example "scott mills" or "spoony" how could you listen to that in realplayer?

sorry to be a pain

It's an easy case really.
For example if you wanted to listen to say... fabio and grooverider you just get the bit of the end of the normal listen again link

http://www.bbc.co.uk/go/radio1/int/fg_l ... /fabgroove

which in this case is "fabgroove". pop an ".ra" on the end of it so you end up with "fabgroove.ra". The stick it on the end of this:

rtsp://rmv8.bbc.net.uk/radio1/

And you end up with rtsp://rmv8.bbc.net.uk/radio1/fabgroove.ra

It's the same for all BBC stations....

...Im sorry I am just a typing addict :P

He tells you why, it's all to do with the 'rewind' button. It's been discussed plenty of times.

He explained the reasons why they don't provide direct Real Player links for music shows (it's all to do with the perfidious rewind button)

Explains that then. But I dont think the BBC will stop people using them. I mean I use them all of the time, cos the listen again page that the bbc provide is poor. You have to get as close as you can to what you want and have to wait (which is annoying). I think it is time for some tweaking, then people might start to use them.

I don't think the BBC will stop people using them personally - just they aren't going to want the links provided in a way which they weren't allowed to provide.

I think it's meant to be hard to pin-point a part of the show exactly, hence the skip buttons and no rewind. There's reason for how everything is done.

The majority of people won't have a clue how to get the direct links and will continue to use the on demand player.

Yea, i guess you have to have a general knowledge on how things work (like us). You probably know this anyway. But there is a way you can get them from the realmedia streams, i guess thats another reason they dont wanted them links provided in a way

Ha, I knew it was there somewhere:-

www.bbc.co.uk wrote:Why can't I rewind a show whilst listening?

Due to copyright restrictions we are unable to provide rewind functionality on shows that contain music.

Why can I only fast forward in 5 or 15 minute chunks when listening to music shows?

Unfortunately our rights agreements with the record companies mean that we cannot break music programmes up into smaller chunks, or offer a rewind facility.

Damn copywrite laws!

So you can listen to it as many times as you want, yet you can't rewind it. Bonkers.

Genius isn't it! Makes you wonder why so many people have no respect for copywrite laws, doesn't it.

Ahhhh! I always wondered why Radio 1 had 5 mins, and Radio 4 has 1 mins, and rewind.
Explains it all now.
