Yesterday i got of my tight-fisted arse and spent £50 on 5 albums which were:
The Strokes>Is this it
Muse>Origin of Symmetry
The White Stripes>White blood cells
Cypress Hill>Stoned Raiders
and *says under his breathe* Unkle Kracker(hes Kid Rocks DJ and i thought it would be good)

I have come to the conclusion that the White Stripes album is my favorite of the year followed by The Strokes, i enjoyed Muse but t'was very short. What other albums are worth buying?

white stripes then strokes then muse. sounds decent enough order to me. haven't taken time to sit down and listen to the white stripes sutff i've got [kind courtesy of monsieur dr].

other decen albums i've got this year: ben folds, spiritualised, also apparantly seafood's latest is quite good. xfm's listeners voted it on it's shortlist for there favourite album of the year. the last one i heard was pretty good. very catchy. similarly,

avalanches. v good indeed. keep you going for a while
sfa keep you going for a little less time but equally very good.
zero 7dont buy it !:) about two good songs. doesnt really go anywhere.
mercury rev some real corkers but the mediocre tracks let it down. kinda similar to spiritualised in that respect.

Virgin Megastores if you have one in Newcastle there doing like 2 for £22 or 5 for £50 and all the titles are pretty new as well. I also bought Green Day today and they're singles are all brilliant, so much better than Blink 182, Wheatus and Bloodhoung gang, but the Bloodhound Gang are wicked

Some of my favourites are:

My Vitriol - Finelines: can't remember whether this was out in 2000 or 2001 but its still a bloody fantastic album.

The Strokes - Is This It: Doesn't quite justify the massive hype but nonetheless a decent debut.

Ooberman - Running Girl: Mini album from Bradford's finest, not many people know about this band but this cd - aswell as their debut "the magic treehouse" - are both stunning.

Ash - Free All Albums: Pure class. Amazing live too.

Kings Of Conveniece - Quiet Is The New Loud: A class cd. Two blokes + two acoustic guitars = fantastic, mellow songs.
Is it just me who doesn't buy albums? I download them, and burn them onto CD, print out the cover on glossy paper (if i'm feeling good :)) and voila.

Toploaders last one was good I thought. Coldplays is alright but a bit boring, you have to be in the right mood (ie - a depressed one.)
