The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

I came up with this idea months ago and got slagged off as usual by the ill mannered, aggressive members of this board.

It's such members that make enjoying this site or posting impossible. I think Chris Moyles is a comedy genius, I'm a huge fan of his show and listen to it everyday because I'm sharing that piece of Radio 1 history he's making. He's the best radio DJ in britain and by far the best that Radio 1 have. Seriously, just how many times can he have you in fits of laughter in just a few minutes? Every link is pure comedy. Top marks to him.

But coming on here and expressing an opinion or just a general comment or conversation is met by such aggression. - Long term members think they own this site and Moyles himself. What, can we not come on here and join in the convos, debates, etc?

Must we all be subject of rude web BULLYS? - and believe me... that's the impression I and many others are getting. Some people on here have no idea how to conduct an argument, talk to others or be reasonable.

Don't get me wrong, I really enjoy the site but I'm starting to really detest coming on here to be met by the same rude and nasty comments by many members.

So maybe it's time the forum on this site closed or was read only....least then it wouldn't tarnish the negitive image it's already inflicting on real FANS and Moyles himself.

- That... or turf out the long standing members....

How about you give reasons for your comment like I did with mine?

DC, I agree that the soundvault is fantastic.... but the forum really is not.

If you really think you can't post an opinion on here without being "bullied", then surely thats the point where you simply don't post here? Its an public board. You're free to come and go as you wish, nobody is forcing you to post here. The other option is to try and get things changed, perhaps?

What use would it be to simply haul down the entire site, and ruin it for those of us that do still enjoy coming here?

As has been pointed it, the sites reputation of being negative has been widely exagerrated on-air by Moyles. Most of the negative stuff here is by people who are looking for a reaction of some sort, or aren't long-standing fans of the show.

As such, when Chris says "All they do is moan all the time on there" on air, we get about 200 people think its true, sign up and then simply create more negativity here by bitching at the boards, because they can't be bothered to properly sift through the boards and get their own views of it.

The problem is the impression people have of the site - not the actual site instead. If one day, Moyles randomly says on air how friendly and nice this site is, you can guarentee you will instantly see a different atmosphere around here.

If it bothers you that much - do something about it. Stop making it worse by creating ridiculous threads like this, and trying to get the place closed.

The site could remain open yes but the forum should just be read only.
At the moment it's just creating and stirring hatred and I can honestly say if I was Chris, with or without an ego I'd still feel a little concious about myself and the show because of the hundreds of people laying into each other in my name on here.

So I'm just saying... why can't the long term members catch themselves on and actually be more welcoming to newbies?

It would keep the sarcastic rude posters like Tombulger or whatever he's called and |S| for e.g well away from the public domain.

I wouldnt say hundred of people are laying into Chris though. Take a proper look through the boards, and look for yourself.

As for being more welcoming to newbies, most nowadays seem to sign up as soon as the site gets a mention, and post utter rubbish in the attempt at getting a mention on air. If you visit the boards constantly, and get used to a certain way things are done round here, then surely when you see 20 new threads full of nothing but rubbish, you're hardly to going to embrace them with open arms, are you? I don't think the welcoming to new members who sign up at other times is as bad as you think, though.

I can your point on him, to be fair. I think most people here have a dislike for him as well. But at least he's usually positive towards the show from what i've seen.

Thanks for taking the time to reply each time. To be honest I was just making a point and sort of bringing the whole issue to everyones attention a little better. Although I think everyone would agree that the feeling on here alot lately by such members is anything but welcoming.

But I have to disagree with you on the whole new members / bad old members thing.... because it does happen every time someone signs up.

- Anyway y'all there you have my arguement.

Out of curiosity Rocky/BBB are you able to provide any evidence to backup your statements about us picking on users 'every time someone signs up'. I've just had a good look through the latest posts (of which there were a hell of a lot) and I couldn't really find a good example to back up your claim. Do you have a specific example in mind?

Unfortunately it happens on pretty much any forum, generally any "n00b" gets put down by certain elements of any internet community. That's why I find lurking for a month or two is a good idea before joining any forum, it let's you know who the t**ts are so you can ignore them.
A lot of internet users forget they're talking to other people and manners are generally forgotten as the chances of meeting up are very slim. If people want to be negative, let them, after all they're just sharing their opinions and wasting time on the internet like we all do.

This site is certainly no worse than most other forums i'm registered with, yeah people will slag off Moyles and the people on here but it's no biggie. I can totally understand why a lot of people dislike him, he's brutally honest and sometimes harsh, but it's makes for great radio.

As for Chris feeling self consious, someone who has been refered to as a "tosser" (amongst other things!) in magazines and by celebs isn't likely to take much on board that he's read on the internet. Hell, when I was an admin on a chat site once upon a time I had death threats, the lot.....did I care? Er, no. Water off a ducks back, much as it will be for him. Going by his listening figures millions think he's great, from his point of view i'd be more inclined to go with the majority. Either way, he get's a s**t lot of money for it, i'd gladly be him

I'm noticing not many people are actually replying to this,The thing iis EVERY forum site has people where old members make remarks about newbies etc, most of the time its just harmless micky taking,This is a Chris Moyles Fansite forum so you would expect it here, however if you are offended in anyway by what someone says about you on any forum site then you should contact a mod or admin and they can take appropriate action.

You cant close down a whole site because a couple of people annoy you, just try to ignore the person/people making the comments,if that doesnt work then contact somebody about their behaviour.

It's not specifically new people who get the piss taken out of them, it's the numpties who can't spell and can't seem to think properly. The people who can only seem to have an opinion on one subject (Steve. - only ever posts about Man City or football in general), the people who claim to be in their 30s, yet their posting style suggests they are at least half their reputed age (derekacorahsdad).

It's been a while since I was new on here but my arrival was met with no hostility whatsoever. Quincy arrived more recently (although he has now been here a little while too) and I don't think he's had any trouble. Console has been here little over a year and he doesn't seem to have had any problems.

The bottom line is, if you don't like it here, don't visit - no one forces you to... You come here off your own back, there is little point in stopping everyone coming just because you feel people are behaving unfairly towards you.

yeah thats true, its also people that arnt used to using forums in general, maybe they are used to one type and not the other.

theres probably more reasons but its pointless listing everyone of them, lol.

I got a bit of stick when I 1st joined,I look back and smile about it now,we were all newbies once ;)

I think people should be careful what they type on forums as things can be taken a number of ways and can also lead to visitors leaving,I've been a mod on a fairly big freebie site and you cant please everyone all the time but you can at least try to listen & help where possible.

I never got any hostility when I joined, and that was when I was like 15.. But I could type and spell properly, and I'm not really that offensive bless me.
