hi everyone firstly before you reply with no please read this. There are many metal fans that like bands like Slipknot, cradle of filth, arch enemy etc but they never get played on radio 1. I know loads of people that listen to radio 1 but only because the inbetween talking is funny and i was wondering could you guys put up with 1 or a few metal songs as we have to put up with about 30 songs we hate just to hear the talking?

It would just be out of place if you dumped 1 - 2 metal tunes in with the regular chart music.

No, and here's why. Radio 1 is a chart based station, and there isn't much metal in the charts - as Steve rightly points out there are specialist stations if you want that sort of music. It nice to hear you like the chat, and so do Imore than the music, but they can't cater for every type of music just in case someone of that genre might enjoy the chatting. Just do what I do, listen on listen again through real player and fast forward all the music bits. Simple

the music doesnt fit with the station. i agree, theres specialist stations for that. but to be honest i listen to radio1 for the humour and chit chat, not the music, but i dont mind the music either, so its a win win situation

As far as i know. Radio 1's playlist dosent go down to well with most people i know and have talked to about it. I am not saying flood it with metal and turn into Kerrang, but say put 3 or 4 tracks more in the playlist of metal and it might work out. It's a bit better than hearing damn sunblock on all of the time.

I don't listen to Radio One for the music content, so I agree with most of the other people who say that metal should be kept off the playlist. If I want to listen to music I like, I play a CD in the car rather than listen to the radio. Obviously they are never going to be playing every type of music all the time so there are going to be loads of people who all wish their favourite bands were played more (except those who like dance music and the Sugababes who seem to be on constant rotation.)
