[quote="Mcqueen"]After consultations with females I'd say a modern defintion of 'handbag' would contain bags with a shouler strap ( Handbag ).

Plus, most women use handbags as a fashion accessoire so are wearing them (having on one's person).quote]

Wearing something doesn't mean having it on one's person. If you are carrying an asda shopping bad then you are hardly wearing it. You take a handbag with you or carry it. Its an accessory albeit an essential one.

And as I'm a woman I know about these things.

The first two mention "To carry"

http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=wear

To carry or have on the person as ... adornment,

A Handbag is an accessoire to beautify (adorn) like ear rings, which you wear. You don't carry earrings with your ears, you wear them. An asda bag is hardly a fashion accesssoire like a handbag is so you cannot compare the two.

You would adorn yourself with jewls tho but hardly with a handbag. Still think you have to carry a handbag. Its not as if its something which you attach to your body like clothes or earings.

Go to West Bay quite a lot, thats a seaside village next to Bridport, better in the winter, not so packed.......... Just in case you want to know where Sidla has gone;
Bridport is near where Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall lives.
The harbour at West Bay, Bridport and surrounding areas were the setting for Harbour Lights, that Nick Berry thing.
The beach at West Bay is the famous setting for Leonard Rossiter's "The Rise and Fall of Reginald Perrin", (and vice versa) where he leaves his clothes on the beach and wades into the sea.
Some of the greatest dinosaur finds in Europe were at West Bay.
At night, An infamous grouping of wild animals occurs at West Bay, Known as Dorset Chavs, they parade around the harbour in motorised carraiges adorned with mock alloy wheels and wing things on the rear, stopping at one of the many take-aways along the route to buy food and shout at the 'Grockles' (tourists).
