I think radio 1 will show the yanks how it's done. I mean American radio is OK, for example on the occasion I listen to this station WTMX Chicago. But they are all like this (most of them that i found are). Then Radio 1 will introduce DJ's with characters, and a variety of music on one station. I mean WTMX is ok, but even it's morning DJ's are boring...
Is radio 2 moving over there as well? Hope not! Steve Wright will give us all a bad name!

A booklet is simply a Javascript stored as a bookmark for ease of use.

As an American, a Sirius subscriber, and a huge fan of Radio 1, I'd be one of the first to complain if they changed Radio 1 to appeal to the american audience. But in all honesty I don't think they ever would. After all, the whole appeal is the fact that it's a UK station.

I have to say that I'm very excited about all this and so are many other Americans. For years now I have been listening to Radio 1 via the internet. My only issue was that in order to listen in the car I would have to capture the stream and burn it to CD, which was a little time consuming. Now I won't have to bother.

I'll admit that it's going to be very surreal to listen to shows like Moyles or Sunday Surgery while I'm driving around NEW England.

Also, just in case you didn't know, Sirius' signal is available throughout most of North America, not just the continental US. Reception stretches from the Artic of Northern Canada to as far south as the majority of Latin America and the Carribean. Although the service is only sold in the US at the present time, the Canadian government recently approved a license for Sirius to be sold in Canada which will be taking place very soon. Additionally, there are numerous "gray market" subscriptions in the Carribean and Mexico, which means that Radio 1's reach is going to be much larger than just the US and Canadian populations. All in all you folks have a very good reason to be proud.

I think it's great, I enjoyed Doms World Weather Report this morning, but I don't think he'll be doing much of that!
Chris raised a good point, if they start reporting News, Sport and Weather for North America, then surely they would have to 'go global' because they already have listeners around the world using 'listen again'.
I can't see (or hear?!?) Chris cutting his banter to allow this.

It's also great that one of the cities that will get it 'on time' will be Chicago, I fell in love with Chicago, when I visited there (on a visit to my girlfriend at the time).

Heres some Chicago history (for research?);

and great places to visit;

Cool. have you been to the Billy Goat? I remember we had to go for lunch at 11.30 because of the lunch time queues, I asked for a triple 'cheezborger' and they rang the bell, then started shouting "we don't sell english chips, just american crispies" (think they meant crisps). Aww the memories :D

Yes the Hot dogs ARE great but I thought Chicago was all about the Pizza?

very funny :P , it's from a Saturday Night Live parody of the Billy Goat tavern, I believe it was performed by the late John Belushi, Steve Martin etc, but don't quote me.
