You've got that bang on. Also, what the hell is with the Sony Awards' year after year obsession with O'Connel, it baffles me.

I'm sure Mills would be up for slagging off the Sony Radio Award tomorrow beings neither him or Moyles were nominated

O'Connell is up for 4 Sony Awards this time, which may seem like bordering on obsessive, but I've actually enjoyed his show on the occasions I've listened.

It's criminal that Fighting Talk hasn't been nominated though.

What next? that bloke who did Reverse-a-word gets nominated for the entertainment award? :P

Then again looking at that list he'd be more deserving than any of those, possibly with the exception of Jonathan Ross.... just possibly.

Just noticed Jo and Twiggy off Trent FM got nominated for DJ of the year???? who the f**k are they trying to kid.... Even Vernon and Sara Cox would get my vote ahead of them.

The Christian O'Connell Breakfast Show has been nominated for Breakfast Show of the Year, The Entertainment Award and The Competition Award, and he's been nominated for DJ Of The Year.

Radio Wife Beater is nominated for a fair few awards I see.

Moyles needs to become less popular then he can win awards.

Zane Lowe looks like the type of guy you'd see working behind a bar in one of those crappy Aussie style bars. He'd be okay as long as he'd take my drinks order and say nothing else. He knows nothing about good music as most of the stuff on his show that I've heard is crap. Hope he doesn't win.

I agree with some of the comments about the snub.

Don't get me wrong, I love Moyles' shows, but I have to say it doesn't have that fresh feeling tuning in during the morning compared to this time last year.

There seems to be more a comfort zone attitude, where if something doesn't work or a feature gets old, to leave it and something'll come along sooner or later and that with 7 million listeners people will continue to listen.

When Buzz Off got old, I was hopeing for a new feature to appear at 7.20, but it's just chit chat and at this time of the morning the guys aren't ready until about 8am.

Last year things like carpark catchphrase, buzz off, the friday ticket giveaway, tedious links, pub quiz, etc felt fresh. There's doesn't seem to have been much since the new year begun.

Last year we had stuff like the Euro 2004 tournament which was worth tuning in just for the jingles! Okay, so we don't have a major football tournament this year, but hopefully you get what i mean. The Red Nose Rally was good, but having 82125 drilled into my head was dull.

The detox was pretty boring. And there's a lot revolving around pub quizes. Come to such and such a place for a pub quiz. Fine for those that get to go, crap listening for those that don't. What happened to spontaneous things like the book signing etc.

The jingles this time round feel a bit rushed. Sure, credit when due to Music4, but the lyrics have been a bit dire. What happened to the tongue in cheek ones and the ones that actually rhymed?

The website could do with a redesign. For Moyles who is the "saviour of Radio 1" I think he's come along, done a great year on the breakfast show and now took a back row seat and the show is slacking a bit.

I agree with Will being on the show was also a good change. Rachel's good, but she isn't prepared to go into areas where Will does.

At the moment Moyles is on holiday, and I know a lot of people have a negative opinion about Mills, but it feels fresh and it reminds me of the days when Moyles begun the breakfast show. Something I'd tune into even when I don't need to be up.

Okay, my little ramble over and done with now. Moyles is great on Radio 1, but I think they need to go along way to live up to last year's standards.

By all means slag off anything you don't agree with ;)

I don't even think last year was anything special. Granted I didn't hear alot of it, but what I heard never lived up to the all time great standards of the Saturday show and the early days of the 4-6 show.

Well obviously.

Moyles is never gonna be as good as he was when he started at Radio 1 - people should know that by now. Then he was 23/24, a breath of fresh air and trying to make a name for himself. Now he is on a huge salary and in the comfort zone. Plus he's 31, and most of the staff on the breakfast show are over 30 too, trying to appeal to a 15-24 year old target audience.

no, because while he's not at his best, he's still the best DJ for breakfast show. If that weren't the case he wouldn't be up there with Wogan in the ratings.

yeah he is the best dj for the breakfast show and while hes not as good as he was, hes still a hit with the listeners.

To get back on track they need some new thoughtout jingles, new features such as at 7.20, something like the time they were at Euro 2004 and a website redesign (not that anything will beat this site ;))

Maybe it's just me, but i don't find Scott Mills at all funny or entertaining. For me there is simply no comparison between him and Moyles. I thought i'd give him the benefit of the doubt and I'v listened impartially while he's been filling in but to be honest can't wait for Moylesy to come back.

I dunno, I prefer him in the morning. I find the afternoon show too repetitive. It might be having Chappers there. But with this show its less features. With Mills in the afternoon you have 5pm - 5.45 Your Call - answering phones.

Download chart on Wednesday, off-air after newsbeat on fridays.

Doesn't give him much time

OK thanks, good to know. Does anyone have the cat[…]
