*drums fingers impatiently*

Seriously though it is very good of you to do this, damn shame the BBC didn't think to put it on the TV iplayer bit :(

I can't get home right now, so I'm FTP'ing from home to work at 1mbit/sec, and hoping the PC at home doesn't go on auto-standby in the middle of it.
If that works, I'll then upload it to MegaUpload, which will take about an hour and a half at 1mbit/sec. Then I'll post a link here. All for you, baby!

Thursday, 15th January: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=AS5DT3GN

My recording starts just after the cheesy song, but before the mikes are hot, so nothing is really missed. The recording ends about an hour after the show really finishes, so there's just a black screen at the end. The video is therefore a bit oversized, but I don't know if editing a FLV is a good idea, so I've left it as-is.

Highlights
00h:34m Carrie sings Boom! Shake the Room
01h:30m Davina's "I love putting my head between big boobs" confession
02h:49m The Boys sing Men in Black, Fresh Prince of Bel Air, Gettin' Jiggy With It (It's hard being Big Willy)
02h:54m Jacoba sings Fresh Prince of Bel Air. "Online, online!"
03h:05m Will Smith

No. The last broadcast was an album by Doves released in 2002 which included the songs There goes the fear and Pounding.

Great album it was too. Colin played Pounding on Ten Hour Takeover day.

Use VLC, like in the instructions I posted.

Works now! Thank you!!! :D

Here's today's show, Friday 16th January 2009: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=N81NEJOP

As mentioned, I missed the first 20 minutes, but I think the only major visual loss is Chris' Mobility Scooter impressions. Fill in the audio gap with BBC iPlayer!

Enjoy!

But what may be the ideal format for you, may not be for someone else - surely if you have the means to convert, then just do that?

That doesn't make any sense. It's recorded as broadcast -- I've captured the original stream as-is. It's broadcast as an FLV (Flash Video) and that's what I've uploaded.

You can't get any better than the original stream*. If someone wants to re-code it and post it somewhere, go ahead.

* Please don't argue about this or I will go postal.

To be fair to neilt0, who is at best an occasional visitor to this site and doesn't really know people on here particularly well, he has done a tremendous job in getting these recorded and uploaded for complete strangers, in some cases having to transfer them to work first. Preferences for differing file formats will always vary between people, why should have have to convert it into several different formats and upload those as well? If you want it in another format, you should find a way to do it yourself, particularly if, as you seemed to imply, you have the means to convert it anyway.

Yeah, I am great! :D

Thanks for the kind words, Topher. I'm doing the recordings for my own benefit, but I thought it would be nice to "give something back" for peeps who don't get a chance to watch the entire stream live.

I hope they decide to do this every day, I'm loving the Visual Moyles, me.

I didn't mean convert them. I just assumed he was using a screen recorder or something and you can simply choose the option. Doesnt matter. Thanks anyway. And thanks for all the effort :)

I don't believe that there's any manual recording as such. The studio streaming, like watching a YouTube video for example, is cached in your Temporary Internet Files folder as randomly named files. If you can identify the video files (normally the largest sized files) copy them to another folder and rename them with a ".flv" at the end. That's your Flash file that neilt0 has kindly been uploading for us.

In due course I will be playing with the files to clip some highlights into MPEG and MP4 formats. This won't be a quick turnaround but if anyone has any requests feel free to suggest some clips/links they would like (hope i'm not treading on your toes neilt0 as you did suggest that some highlights were in progress).

Actually, it is proper streaming. The stream is coming from an RTMP server, like the Flash version of the iPlayer uses. RTMP is a proper streaming protocol, as opposed to what YouTube does which uses HTTP and the flash applet to play the file as it's downloading.

Console is right. Capturing the stream is pretty tricky. I won't say how I did it, for obvious reasons, but it's possible to find out with a bit of research.

Well, even bigger thanks for uploading them then, as there was clearly more to it than I realised.

Well said Topher, I would also say well said to Console but as usual I have no idea what he's on about....if he's got an RMTP then he should go to the doctor about it.

The live streams where great but im guessing it might be a pain having the studio extra bright, but it does make good watching and listning and it seems that the bbc had made a nice flash window for it all to work in with the daves log and poll so maybe we will see alot more of this and maybe watch it again on iplayer next time.
