Exactly. On the Myriad system which the Milestone group used to use (before they flogged all their stations), you actually sat there, listened to the end of one song, could start speaking over it, then it would end, carry on link, then you could fire the next song and talk up to the vocal or whatever and basically it just sounded truly live. A great system for saving money - of course they then only paid the freelance jocks for the hour it took to record rather than the 5 hours if they were live!
