We like the show, that's why we moan when there are elements we dont like as we want the show to be the best it can be. If we really didn't care we wouldn't post here.
gbm wrote:Fair point well made, never thought of it like that, I have however heard Moyles on air saying how when he reads the site he finds comments that he feels slightly upset about so perhaps the fact that you want the show to be the best it can be should be stated

Andy B wrote:Good example The Office versus Red Dwarf If you surveyed 100 people as to whether they wanted another series of the Office, they'd probaby say yes because Gervais had the sense to stop it in it's prime when it was still good. Now look at Red Dwarf, they made that series to death. Most people who wathed the show would say it was good up to around series 5 and that's pushing it somewhat.

You are a disgrace and I'm looking forward to when someone you respect dies so I can rub your liberal face in it.
Andy B wrote:That said, Rachel is dull but with someone like Chris on air, you do need someone to tell him where the boundary is, he can't just say anything he wants and not play any songs, so you need someone with their feet on the ground. Also I like it when Chris just shouts and moans at her for being dull.

Andy B wrote:I agree the show does seem to be more about banter these days rather than features and we haven't heard a decent song parody for ages but how long can you keep doing the same thing for without it getting tired and old?
Topher wrote:You can't compare a sitcom to a radio show though, they're two completely different formats. You can't change the format of a sitcom too much, since the basic situation always remains the same - Only Fools and Horses was always about a dodgy market trader and his brother - the storylines changed but the characters and the basic information always remained familiar (and by the way, Only Fools and Horses was going over 15 years and the only point they overdid it, in my opinion, were the episodes after they made their fortune.)

fish heads wrote:It was never really heavily feature based anyway. 9 times out of 10 the actual banter is better than the features. This isn't just true at breakfast, it's true from all of Chris's time at Radio 1 and it's what he's best known for. He could never do what Scott does and just go from feature to feature throughout the show (don't worry Jono, this isn't an insult) as it's not his style.
