A strike at Radio 1 on the 1st June will cause 'radio to go dead and tvs to go blank' according to the trade union- BETA. This is due to recent BBC job cuts. Will this mean no Chris Moyles on the 1st June? Probaly. It seems you will just get a continual play of music on the 1st June. It shall be very intresting. 8O

Yeah - it was annoying that the BBC went down for two days because of that!

It's the BBC, they'll work around it.

They can get the shows pre-recorded like ITV did with the recent strike - and use outside agencies for technical stuff/journalists.

Haha! I love that about school. We had a massive petition against having to attend Religious Education lessons. It didn't work. :(

I hope not... i mean why fire Aled when they could fire Vermin, the chucklebrothers, well most of the weekend lineup .... comedy dave and chappers on saturdays is good enough to replace any of those for at least a few hours, and I'm sure they could find better to replace the rest

true, even if they fired vermin and co, theyd only end up hiring someone for even more money than the current lineup get....

with all the job cuts, they are having to justify hiring Graham Norton, so surely he can run the BBC for the day? I'd rather watch/listen to dead air than see/hear Graham Norton [unless it was re runs of Father Ted episodes]

Is it radio 1 on strike or just people operating the output. I thought most of R1 presenters are freelance (during the day) and if its output people then they will have to bring in technical help from outside

Id image their might be office staff at R1 that'd be facing problems and might opt to strike. The presenters wont be facing job cuts. Whether or not they would strike or not might be a different matter...

OK thanks, good to know. Does anyone have the cat[…]
