yeah, I noticed that change as well. Although I kinda prefer it when you're expecting a swearing rhyme or something, and it doesn't rhyme. Like the christmas jingles where there's a line 'we'll all get tipsy' or something.

"Cuddly toys for Aled, some alcohol for Chris. He'll share it out with all the team, and then they'll all get tipsy", the first few lines of the second part of the Christmas Cheesy Song 2009 and 2010. It's available on the Music4 website. ^_^
I'm just like Aled, in some respects... and I was shocked with this year's cheesy song, but not enough to complain about. It's troubling that they might have changed it for this reason, too much Political Correctness these days...

Too easily, in my opinion. The only person who could possibly be offended by the use of the line "Aled is gay" in the Cheesy Songs, is Aled himself. And I'm sure he probably approved the jingle for use on the air himself when it was written/recorded/added to the jingle list (note the use of the word "probably"), and was therefore not offended!

I doubt anyone will have complained about the content of the cheesy song. Not that many people hear the lyrics anyway.

Tis true, many Moyles listeners wouldn't even know the cheesy song exists.....

No it's not.

Yeah, it is.

It's not 'the same', but it's the same 'concept'.

And surely Aled is used to (and happy with) being stereotyped as gay - he goes on about it enough himself...

I suppose, yeah, most of them start listening at 8am+, hence that's why they usually have guests then.

Now, you see I'm completely the opposite. I listen from 6.25am with a few minutes of Dev and his handover, and the Cheesy Song, to about 8ish, and then switch off because I have places to be... or rather, I've fallen asleep... Not from boredom, just from being exhausted.

I'm the same, I listen until about 8:15 because I have to go to school, and then catch up on iPlayer later on.

The thing about the cheesy song is that it's a parody, although I realise that that's lost on a lot of the show's audience.

Back in the day when radio stations used to shut down for the night many of them would come back on air with a "station song" - a long jingle saying cheesy things about how great the local area is.

Try this 80s example from BBC Radio York - Real Player file (it's an old site!) and lyrics. Or this one from Radio Trent

The Cheesy song is the CM Show's version of this style of song. The "We love our breakfast" jingle is similar as well. So arguably it *should* be repetitive and sound the same every day!

(As an aside, a station in Scotland has had a Station Song made, with a video they're using in TV adverts. It sounds so like the Cheesy Song it's unbelievable - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DJiGxDnJaN8)

I've dug this thread up just because I heard the 'Aled who is ga-ay' version of The Cheesy Song played yesterday, having not heard it since I read these posts discussing whether said version was scrapped because of complaints. Unless they played it by mistake yesterday then this doesn't appear to have been the case.

Good god, where the heck did you dig that old Radio Trent ident up from? I remember pressing play on that when I was an engineer there a very loooong time ago!!!

It's brought back memories, not all of em too good either... ~)

It wouldn't feel right to not wake up to that now. It didn't feel right when it wasn't used on the marathon show either.

Dya reckon when chris leaves Radio 1 and goes onto a new station, he'll keep the cheesy song? Or get a similar one made? I'd hope so. It's an iconic part of the show to the die hard Moyles fans.

There was probably a guiness rule about length of jingles. Obviously beds can be as long as they want but i can see why they'd have a problem with a 2 and a half minute jingle when the rule is 2 songs back to back max, and a jingle isn't counted as a song.

I think the main reason it wasn't included is because they wanted it to be one continuous show. It was played on the Wednesday morning

I like the cheesy song so voted to keep.... but i thought the 2010 song (where the same lyrics were on everyday) was better than the current batch. They should go back to that.

I remember one occasion recently when they played out the song for the wrong day, in full, and then Aled said "Sorry, wrong day" and proceeded to play the correct day theme in full!
