Chris is bigger than that. It's too small time for him and it won't happen in my opinion. Would be good if it does happen though.
Only thing I can see Chris doing on radio 1 is holiday cover. There just isn't a place for him to have a regular slot and to be honest it gives him time to pursue other projects outside radio if he's on air occasionally.

I do find this whole thing quite odd to think Chris may go from flying the Flag-Ship show on R1, to not being on the station at all... Seems a mahoosive fall from grace. I'd like to think someone else would get moved to accom him (like Snott) but thats not my choice.
I've actually met Chris n shook his hand. This fact is still causing slight issues in my trouser dept....

I'd much rather something like that than a daytime show on R1 that I'd never be able to hear live. I know I download all the shows anyway, but it's not the same experience.

Its local in name, bit the proposal is for a networked show so its not really local.

There are rumours that Dave Vitty is joining Absolute radio in september,Apparantely Christian O'Connell said something about it this morning. Dave is refusing to confirm it on twitter though.Maybe there are negotiations going on

If I was in his position I would be looking to take a break from radio.

After all he is doing other things including TV. With TV being the way it is regarding image, it comes at a good time with Chris looking much better having lost weight.

With some time remaining on his R1 contract I don't know if he will be held to doing more work for them for the duration.

Anyway we will find out soon enough.

Given his more frequent recent appearances on Five Live, it would surprise me if Dave went to Absolute.

Do you actually live in Uruguay?!

You can get a DAB/internet radio? (are local stations available on them?)

No, I live in Scotland! We do have a few commercial stations on DAB here, but I find DAB generally rubbish and unreliable. In my house only the BBC stations seem to work on it anyway. I've never tried internet radio on anything other than a computer so far, and I don't have my PC on at home much as I already spend my working day using one.

To sum up, if it's not on FM then chances are I won't be listening (or able to listen).

Chris moyles to take over John Peel's slot?

Postby madhorse52 » Thu Aug 09, 2012 7:30 am

DJ Chris Moyles tipped to take over John Peel slot

When Chris Moyles arrived at Radio 1, John Peel vowed to “take out” the abrasive newcomer with explosives. Now the deposed breakfast show host is being lined up to take over the revered broadcaster's late-night new music slot, in a major shake-up at the BBC.Bosses at the network have asked Moyles, who hands over the breakfast show to Nick Grimshaw next month after eight years, to take over the 10pm-to-midnight weeknight slot, which Peel dedicated to innovative and experimental music. The choice of Moyles as a successor to Peel may be be hard for some music fans to stomach. While Peel helped legions of new artists gain exposure, Moyles has based his DJ career on “laddish” humour and pranks.Station executives argue that Moyles (38), who has been accused of sexism and homophobia, would be free to present an “edgier” programme for older listeners in the late-night slot. The plan could be seen as a demotion for the radio star who enjoys a listernership of just under 7 million. But talks are continuing between the star and BBC chiefs.

Just because it could potentially be in the same slot as Peel's show doesn't mean it has to be musically-orientated. Although if Chris was allowed to play more stuff that he likes rather than the playlist it would be a good listen.

The late-night slot would be perfect for me since I work from 10pm a few nights during the week and will easily start the night in a good way if he was to do a show there and play some music that I would prefer listening to rather than some of the crap the daytime playlist is.

My moneys on Matt Edmondson to get the 10pm slot.Big clue was that he and grimmy did the prank call feature together when matt stood in for him last monday.I suspect that Chris was offered it but has turned it down. Chris will probably take over Sara Coxs slot when she takes over from Fearne Cotton in january.Either that or Vernon will move to sundays and Chris will take over saturdays 10am.

I don't think chris will do the 10-12. I know his bosses called for reinvention, but chris knows his fortes, and playing constant new music, without his dear zoo formatting will be a step too far.

He won't be on radio this year after September if you listen to Steve wright interview.
He said he'd 'probably' be on radio early next year. I'd say on radio 1 weekends & maybe a radio 2 show (R2 if he stays in this country & doesn't persue opportunity in America). So after r1 it will be r2 or America, not commercial stations and with an increase in tv work but with the majority of work being radio based

The interesting thing about that interview was that Steve, and Chris, quite delibaratley used the term 'BBC Radio. ' ,not Radio One. Chris has virtually confirmed that he wil be on 'BBC Radio' sometime next year. But not necessarily Radio One it would seem...

There is wild speculation on Digital Spy that Steve Wright is about to be moved off his afternoon show and that Chris could take over as early as january. I don't think that's likely, but it is interesting that he did his first interview since announcing his departure on radio 2...

I'm talking to Chris James about his wild speculation regarding Steve Wright. I don't like quoting him as its not worth the extra 2 seconds it would take me to do it.
