Newbies- Introduce yourself

The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

Well, as I seem to be spamming the heck out of this place just minutes after creating an account - I should introduce myself!

I'm one of those people that the BBC wants to loose (34 - over the hill etc.) Have been listening to Chris since forever, in fact since he joined R1 (although I'll admit I had a bit of a love/hate thing at first)

I live in Sunny Bournemouth, I am not an alcoholic (but I do love curry)

Sad fact: the only reason I signed up to Twitter is to see what they were talking about on the show :D

Always nice to see a few new folks pop on and say hello.

I'm Scott, 33 and I'm a Gemini.
I'm a heavy drinker and poker.

So come in, play nice, don't be too * at the outset and if any of use  <--- this emo. I will track you down and kick you square in the baws / pie (delete as applicable).

Have fun.

Evening All,

Huge fan of the show since the Early Bit and listened ever since then. Used to write show reviews on here many many many years ago, that is better off forgotten though to be honest, been lurking ever since! 28 now, so too old for Radio 1 it seems, damn! Live and work in Manchester, not a huge amount left to say other than, does anyone remember Longman? I wonder what happened there, he was so funny.

28 puts you in the demographic (Just - one year left :) ).
I recently listened to an old show (I can't remember when, But it was definatley 2008) that mentioned why Longman dissapeared from the show.
It's down to two reasond.
1: He moved to America.
2: He got married and never invited them to the wedding (Well, except Rachel but she did'nt go).

Hmm, I think i'll turn down that extra year, i'm sure they won't miss me!

And yeah, I remember vaguely talk of him moving to America. It's amazing now that I am going back through random shows how much things have changed, and how much some people have come and gone.

Afternoon all,

I registered here yesterday but didn't get round to doing the introducing myself bit. I'm 26 so still within the demographic, although I will voluntarily be choosing an alternative to Grimmy, never been a huge fan of his work. I live in miserable rainy Scotland - despite Dom's notoriously rubbish forecasts he at least deserves a little credit for being able to accurately guess that it is indeed raining in Scotland a lot - and have visited these forums numerous times over the years. I decided this week to register as it just seemed to make sense. I have listened to Moyles since way back in the early days of the afternoon shows and will really miss the whole team after September, especially Dom and Dave as some of their stuff is hilarious at times.

May I just say a huge thanks and well done to all those responsible for putting together those impressive archives.....I've a feeling I'll be relying heavily on them when we enter "the Grimshaw Era".

Hello all, I'm Fiona and I'm 20 years old and currently living in sunny Scotland!

I've been lurking on here for years, I just never got round to registering. Been listening to Moyles since January 2006 and have been a proper fan ever since. Listening to the show throughout the day on the iplayer has got me through countless pieces of homework, essays and mundane jobs.

Have to say, one of the weirdest moments of my life was when Chris read out my text on air. I'd sent in a picture of the view of out my window to disprove Dom's weather and suddenly I was hearing Chris describing the way the fences were set out in the surrounding gardens. It was bizarre to think that Chris Moyles, in a tiny basement studio in London, could see exactly what I could see in my little Scottish village!!

So a bit more about me; I'm a redhead, am partial to a bit of rose wine and I love Mexcican food!

I really should have said hello before posting elsewhere here first so apologies if i've broken any protocols here!

I'm Andy, I'm soon to be 40 so in Radio 1 terms I'm way past it.

I've grown up with Radio 1, my main era I guess is from the early 90's onwards but I can well recall the days of Mike Reid's breakfast show as a kid.

I was actually a fan of most of Matthew Bannister's changes, if I had to name a radio idol it would be Kevin Greening, who for me was one of the most talented and underrated DJ's the station ever had. I was also a big fan of Mark & Lard and of course Chris!

I've followed Chris Moyles since his first Early bit, I met the lady that later became my wife a few weeks after he joined R1 and lost my dad shortly after Princess Diana died. When Chris started on breakfast I was in my final week of my previous job and in my current role I've progressed from being a van man to a manager, so although I was an adult I feel like I've grown up with Chris and the team providing the soundtrack to some of the biggest highs and lows of my life.

I can well remember recording one of Chris' shows when he was sitting in for Kev & Zoe on breakfast and remember thinking why wasn't he doing the job full-time, thankfully after Radio 1 got over it's "ladette" phase I finally got my wish.

I'll give Grimmy a go, I'm sure Ben Cooper would rather I didn't but I actually like current music. I find the obsession with age annoying and I'll re-tune when I'm good and ready!

I've probably gone on too much here but I've been reading this site for ages and love the archive section.

Cheers,

Andy.

Hi, im Andy and have been listening to Chris and the team since 2004, and like most people here, have gown up listening to the show and am proud it was apart of my life and will miss it when it ends! Im 24 and to be fair Chris is the only show I regularly listen to on R1. I just hope he stays with R1 till his contract expires in 2014.

Anyway, thanks for having me!

Hello!

I'm David from the beautiful, sunny Scotland... Long time lurker, first time poster (probably left it a bit late, but hey ho)

I started listening to the Chris Moyles podcast in 2010 and started listening to the live show last summer. My biggest regret is not listening to the show earlier, but at least there is the amazing archive on this site so I can listen to shows I've never heard!

Also I'm 15 and hate all the music Radio 1 plays. So after Chris is off, I'm off.

Hello all.

I'm Cath and apparently far too old to be listening to the radio 1 breakfast show (lets be kind and say I'm in my mid 40s)

I started listening to Chris after I read his autobiography back in 2007 (I think). I thought he seemed like a really nice guy and unlike the portrait painted by the media so decided to give his show a listen and LOVED it. A wonderful relief from Capital. I wish I'd discovered the show much sooner.

I heard about Chris quitting when I was on holiday catching up on twitter. It took the edge right off my holiday I can tell you. I run in the mornings and the first link is what gets me out of bed and onto the streets - I had no idea how I was going to manage to do that after the show ends and the dark and cold mornings start to set in. Nick, Radio 2 and Capital won't do it (and I'm bang up to date with the podcasts)

So, much thanks to this website and for the the advice from the Flying Badger, I hope to continue to be a happy listener for ages to come as I work my way through your archives.

Yuds is right as always.

At some point you will post something. I will take umbrage with said post. Expletives and profanities will follow.
I'll enjoy the initial release then the guilt will set in...Oh wait. No sorry. That's sex with the missus.

Hi I am Sophie. I am just in Radio 1's target demographic, but the other way to most of you! I turned 15 last month.
Been lurking on the forums and the website for a few years on and off. When bored, I sometimes go on your YouTube channel and watch clips from the livestream. In fact I have been doing that before I knew the website existed!
Thought I should finally sign up seeing as the website looks awesome.
