Nick Grimshaw can do no wrong IMHO. I would like him to succeed Chris on breakfast .He has just the right mix of irreverance honesty and likeability , much like Moyles.Plus he's mates of loads of famous people who he can invite on to the sho w on a regular basis. I assume Greg has a much bigger audience though.

I've never heard a Grimmy show all the way through and will be giving it a listen. His voice irritates me so I don't hold out much hope for me enjoying it.

Nick Grimshaw

Postby Bonanzoid » Tue Apr 17, 2012 2:35 pm

(Nic, I tried to post this in an existing Grimshaw thread but it was redirected to sound requests, so I deleted it)

What does everyone else make of him now? I used to hate his show, I just thought it was awful but I listened him today and I reckon he's improved. Even made me laugh once or twice. Anyone agree/disagree?

I am going to catch up on his show on the Iplayer this evening. How involved on air is Matt Fincham?

I agree. He is definitely one of the better Radio 1 presenters. I have started listening to his evening show in recent weeks and I prefer that to his current afternoon stint. I do like the show he does with Annie Mac on a Sunday too. She is pretty good as well, and is doing a good job of sitting in for Grimshaw at the moment, and she was great covering for Zane Lowe the other week too.

He's OK, which is a vast improvement on my previous opinion of him.

He's very good in this 1-4 slot. I don't really enjoy his late night show though.

I think my issue with him is the type of music he plays. I can't be doing with all that trendy indy nonsense.

His show featured in yet another 100% factually correct Daily Mail story today. Apparently, he was teasing Mollie Saturday about her recent shopping trip with Aled.

'He first joked that she was in a relationship with presenter and singer Aled Jones........

Aled and I have been trying hard to hide if for a while... I got a text from Aled and we went shopping, it was so much fun he bought a jumper and today he was wearing it today.

She added: 'He's the perfect man, he's affectionate, he talks in code, he replies to text, great dress sense.

'He genuinely likes me. We both love Jaffa Cakes so we're going to have a jaffa cake party.'

There are loads of comments underneath explaining the difference between The Snowman Aled and the actual Aled in question, so it appears that there are more DM readers who are also Chris Moyles Show listeners than you may think.

Blimey. Thats a bit of a tenuous link to this thread! Anyway, even putting its political agenda to one side, the Mail's website is so riddled with errors it would be more a surprise to read an article on there that is error free.

The Daily Mail read this forum.

How do I know? They nicked a screengrab that I only posted here of Chris from a live video streaming show for a story on their site. I imagine they only come here when there's something about Chris they want to write about in their nuthin' but the facts manner.

I listened to Nick Grimshaw quite a lot last week while I was at my parents' place, and I enjoyed it. He has been involving Matt quite a bit on-air so it was nice to hear him settling into his new role. Sara Cox 10-1 and Grimmy 1-4 constitutes a daytime R1 lineup I could actually get on board with. When it was time for Scott I took the dog out for her afternoon walk :)

MSN need to get their facts right this is so funny and Aled is so going to HATE it.

Initially, he suggested that she was dating Welsh singer Aled Jones: "Big rumours in all the papers... about you and Aled..."

IT WAS WHAT IT WAS.
"IF you don't leave now, there is no going back."

Sadly Sara wil never be on Radio One 5 days a week again. She is coming to the end of her Radio One career.Nick Grimshaw will probably have his own daytime show in a couple of years though,so you will get 50% of your wishes coming true

Not necessarily... didn't Aled tweet about it? Thereby driving Moyles listeners to their site. This is how the Mail's website is the most popular newspaper website in the world - because of the attention it stirs up on Twitter, either by people like Aled tweeting about it or - more likely - people being outraged about, say, Samantha Brick.

That is highly likely. I read an article about the DM written in The New Yorker recently which contained some gems of quotes and information about their online site such as;

''We just decided to go hell-for-leather for ratings," an anonymous source involved in the launch told the writer, Lauren Collins. "Anything relating to climate change, American politics, Muslims – we just chased the numbers very ruthlessly."

'Editorial meetings are referred to as the "vagina monologues" because Dacre (the editor) uses the c-word to describe his staff.'

'When Liz Jones wrote a column about stealing her husband's sperm to impregnate herself, she gained the moniker Jizz Loans.'

I do love that site though, in a really guilty pleasures type of way.

Agreed.
I like Grimmy a lot, I always find him enjoyable to listen to and he seems pretty versatile as a DJ too, which is always a plus.
And yeah, I prefer Sara to Fearne too.

As and when he gets there, assuming he does, I think Greg will do a decent job on breakfast.

I think Greg would be a bad choice for Breakfast. Obviously whoever eventually succeeds Moyles will have big shoes to fill and won't be the same, but Greg has a manner which is painfully cheesy at times and doesn't have the same relationship with the audience.
For example, remember that awful "Winky song" he did for a whole week? I don't want to wake up hearing crap like that, thanks.
I have nothing against Greg as a person and he deserves his place on Radio 1, but afternoon slots suit him best.
Of all the current DJs, I think only a return by Sara Cox to Breakfast would be a decent replacement for Chris(Although I've enjoyed listening to Mills whenever Chris has been on holiday too).

No disrespect to Sara who is one of the nicest people on this earth, but I think theres less chance of her getting breakfast than anyone else, given that she did it before and lost a lot of listeners. She's a different person now than she was then of course, but she is in her late 30s and nobody has ever presented the breakfast show after the age of 40,so I think it's a non starter.Even Scott Mills is now deemd to be 'too old' to succeed Chris. No,it will almost certainly be someone in th eir 20s like Nick or Greg or even Fearne.I would put a bit of money on Gemma Cairney too.

Have to say Nick was brilliant on afternoons..Loved the phone call feature.Annie Mac pretending to want to be a pop singer and Coxy 'wanting' to hire a stripper clown for an adult party.Very funny. I think Scott is taking another week off soon to do the Eurovision song contest coverage so hopefully nick will return that week to fill in for him again
