Moyles and Mark & Lard Archive - Discussion & Request Thread

Yeah he does but because we're now doing it through Dropbox there is only enough room for that amount at a time. I believe the rest have been put into my dropbox this afternoon I just haven't had time to take them out yet.

Sorry for the triple post, but as it stands our archive starts from May 2005, not including Mike's shows. So if I can work with Mike up to that point then to complete the archive of breakfast shows we just need to get Jamie's shows edited. Ian has almost finished 2005 and I am half way through March 2006 so once those 2 years have finished we just need to edit and upload 2007, 2008 and January through to the 20th of August 2009 (I hope Jamie has all these). These may take a while so if anyone is able to help it would be much appreciated.

I should have all of 2007 edited down (albeit chopped up rather than nicely faded in/out) and i'm close to the end of August in 2008 (I usually edit at work whilst listening to them but I'm way behind...) - I am missing one full episode from 2008 and so couldn't edit it down (29th of July) but other than that I can also supply those as well.

I've edited the boxing day 2011 show and the Saturday one big weekend show from 2011. Now, how do I get it on here? Can I e-mail it to one of you or is there an easier way?

As a side note. If you feel my efforts are acceptable then please let me help out with other shows.

upload it into archive.org. If you can't then send it to me and I'll do it. And ok Mike that would be a great help. When we've worked up to May 2005 we'll see what other gaps we can fill with your shows. It may save Me and Ian a lot of editing.

I've got 4.11.05 to 23.12.05 still to edit. Which I will definitely start doing soon, as soon as the university work eases off a bit, which should be very soon.

When do you reckon you will be able to get them on here?

I'm missing the following: 23/05/05, 24/05/05, 27/05/05, 31/05/05, 23/10/07, 16/11/07, 30/11/07, 03/12/07, 04/12/07, 17/12/07, 09/06/09, 10/06/09. So, if anyone can fill them, we're laughing.

There might have to be a decision which source we want to take, mine or Mike's. I've noticed most if not all of Mike's are in mono. Whereas the Listen Again streams will be in stereo. But saying that, the bitrate of Mike's FM captures will be higher than the pretty low bitrate of the early Listen Again streams. So I suppose it's down the people who'll be editing these down and uploading them. Pretty good problem to have, in any case.

Interesting fact: today's show was the 1725th breakfast show with Chris.

I suppose that as Mike's are mostly already edited we would choose his, but if we then notice any poor quality at later dates then we can always swap any over to your shows. I am very confident we will get every breakfast show here.

I can help with most of these. Not the greatest quality conversions from the original real audio - but I guess better than nothing.

How do I send them?

If anyone wants to help with sound clipping please let me know - you need to get permission from Chris to upload to the sound vault, but it would be good to have someone else clipping as well.

2004 will probably all be in mono because these were recorded through the microphone rather than line-in (it didn't work on the computer I had back then for some reason). I believe when I started doing 2005 i was able to do so through line-in as I received a new sound card (or a new computer - i really can't remember) and realised that they were in Mono (I'll have to check to be sure) so they weren't quite right. I did have to resort to downloads from Listen Again when recordings failed or went odd - which weren't great but better than nothing.

The main problems I have had from recording it from the Radio has been interference on the line (in later recordings you may notice odd sounds - probably taxi radios somewhere close by) and the radio not being tuned in properly (it had a habit of doing that). I later moved to my freeview recorder box as it was digital and easier to program and then it wasn't until I found out about iPlayer Downloader and then Radio Downloader that I stopped recording shows manually.

Basically i don't mind either way, if there are better quality ones that I have then i'll probably replace mine with it or at least put it alongside it and make a judgement when i listen back to it.
