Does Ferne Cotton really care about her radio job?

Postby slaphead1982 » Sun Dec 18, 2011 1:01 am

I won't lie, I'm not the biggest fan of Ferne as a radio presenter but that aside she seems to take alot of time off the show to do T.V. work.
So I'm asking you good people if you agree if she really wants to be on the radio or if it's just a necesary evil to keep her celebrity profile up.
To try and make me sound not soo against Ferne, I do like her on Celebrity juice.

Does Ferne Cotton really care about her radio job?

Of course she wants to be. She wouldn't do it otherwise.

What a strange question. I don't really believe she regards herself primarily as a radio broadcaster, her career is broader than that obviously. But I'm sure she loves her job at R1.

I much prefer her on TV than the radio. She is ok when reading a script and a structure. He inane waffling on her radio show makes me want to crash my car into a petrol pump.

Old spinster? Hasn't she been married like two or three times? (Not Fearne, Dot...)

I listen to Radio 1 on a Monday to Friday from 8am-5pm and enjoy everything BUT Fearne Cotton. I never have taken to her since she took over from Jo Whiley. I have managed to put up with her to now but always tune away to other stations between 10am-1pm - I am sure I am not the only person to do this.

She seems to be very self centred and often likes talking about herself and "her show" as she calls it. Maybe thats because she has a lack of material or is unable to engage with the listeners like other presenters?

Bring in Sara Cox I say, very witty, funny and enjoyable to listen to especially on a cold wet Monday morning.

Greg should do the 10-12:45 and they should have Grimmy in Greg's slot. I see Greg being the next breakfast host within the next couple years so it will be good to start introducing him to breakfast show listeners with the 10 minute chit chat at the end of the Moyles show.

Fearne is one of those workaholics who accepts loads of jobs and if she loses one it isnt a big deal. If she lost the Radio 1 job she would just get another one, and judging by the lack of creativity in her show I think it is fair to say she isnt overly bothered about it.

That said, I would rather listen to her than Greg James. At one point I thought he would be an ideal replacement for Moyles when the day comes, but he has just developed into an annoying sap. He can barely do a link without falling into some naff, stupid impression or voice. He isnt far off being the most annoying DJ on R1, but Edith Bowman just pips him to that.

With Moyles remaining and If Fearne was replaced with Sara Cox and Greg James replaced by Nick Grimshaw with Mills remaining at Drive you would have a pretty decent line-up in my opinion. I am not particularly a fan of Mills, but in the drivetime slot I appreciate that he is good at what he does.

.I think Fearne could well be the next presenter of the breakfast show. She has improved so much in the last 2 years and is extremely popular.Sara Cox wil never get another weekday slot. She'll most probably be gone in the next year or 2

I'm not a Cotton fan whatsoever, but isn't that exactly what Chris Moyles does?

Yeah I reckon she does. She's better then Bowman. And the banter between Chris and Ferne is some of the best I've heard in a while.

Come on Dimmy, it's chrisjames you're quoting there. More chance of Benji boy pulling a stunner than ol' CJ typing something credible.

I mean who can forget such hits like -

chrisjames wrote:I never knew Chris did a reading at John Peels funeral. That's really nice to hear.I remember the day Peel died. I just lay on my bed and wept for ages.Only other time thats happened is when Princess Diana got killed .

chrisjames wrote:I have edited this post as a consequence of the previous edited post, in order to respect Chris's privacy and feelings.I apologise for any offence or hurt I might have inadvertently caused.

And of course -
