In-jokes

I'm sure there are loads I'm missing and the show seems to have become really innuendo laden over the past few months but it came as a surprise to me that Rick from Online is Ricky from the Kaiser Chiefs.

Obviously I knew Chris was big friends with Ricky Wilson but it never occurred to me that he had a secret on air persona or that Rick from Online doesn't actually exist!

What else am I missing? (Or do we have to work it out for ourselves?)

Rick from online is not Ricky Wilson. Chris just said Ricky Wilson by mistake when he was talking about Philip Schofield, cos Wilson and Schofe have been having a bit of a Twitter love-in recently, so one name obviously brought the other to mind. Why do you think the lead singer of a famous band would be working in the online dept at Radio 1...?!

Of course I don't think a lead singer works in online - I assumed that Rick from Online doesn't actually exist and this is just a code name for when the team are talking about Ricky Wilson.

Chris tweeted about the lunch "Yesterday was amazing. Hanging with @MaverickSabre, singing with Michael Buble (!!) and lunch and drinks with @Schofe and @Rickontour. Wow" - @Rickontour IS Ricky Wilson.

Schofe tweeted about the lunch "As a massive fan of Kaiser Chiefs, I have to say that @rickontour is not only a bit of a bro-crush, he's also a really lovely guy

Then on the next day's show Chris said he'd been for lunch with Rick from Online and Schofe at which point Dave mentioned the Kaiser Chiefs and Chris seemed to get a bit annoyed that Dave had spoilt the illusion...

By the way, the Partridge book, I Partridge, is one of the funniest things you'll ever read.
And funnily enough all the way through the book he refuses to acknowledge Lynn by name, just referring to her as 'my assistant' or by more disparaging terms.

I'm not really a fan of that 'make you cringe' style of comedy. I realise it's all fake with Partridge, but I still find it more uncomfortable than funny.

*sigh*. Rick Online is a bloke called Rick who works in the Online department (or possibly a made up person but he doesn't really matter in the context of this). Rickontour is Ricky Wilson. The names are kind of similar so Chris and the team sometimes refer to Ricky Wilson as Rick Online.

Just wanted to add that Ricki from Online and Ricky Wilson have the same birthday. Chris was congratulating "Ricki from Online" somewhen in January. I was reminded of this discussion and went to look Ricky Wilsons birthday up - and it was that day. I don't believe it's a coincidence.

P.S Andi Peters made some reference to this the other day too, and it reminded me there was something going on, but I couldn't be arsed looking and then forgot. Would seem they are one and the same though, though he does seem to refer to him as if he is there often so I guess maybe there is a Rick from online who occasionally appears and then they are refer to Wilson as Rick from online too? I dunno....this is why I gave up before I think, I am just not that bothered to think it through :p

Apparently "Rick from Online" also has a band on the side that just so happened to play on David Letterman last week
