Do you reckon being announced on a Friday has anything to do with the fact they'd rather Chris didn't talk about it?

It probably is so that most of the competition don't mention it.

Wow thats a bit of a surprise. Was never a big fan of the show but it seemed to do very well in the Rajars.

Given that Capital breakfast is arguably the 3rd biggest DJ'ing gig in Britain, any thoughts on who will fill JV's shoes long term?

Well it can't be Chris because he's just signed a 2 year deal with Radio One.Thank god for thatb ecause I really dont fancy having to listen to Capital FM every morning!

Just found out he was axed .The boss told him this m orning his contract was not going to be renewed and he refused to work out his notice. Does'nt Capitals breakfast show go national next year? Maybe they have a bigger personality than Vaughan lined up to take over...

I thought that happened at the start of this year when all those adverts with Rihanna started appearing on the TV>

Would Chris even mention it on the show though? Is there any need to? He doesn't really tend to talk about radio industry stuff unless it's the listener figures.

Left Capital for Daybreak?!?!
Lurker for a few years. Then signed up, posted some things, then lurked for another few years.
Now the show is over, I start posting. Perfect logic eh?

This story in the Guardian http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2011/no ... sfeed=true Seems they thought he was getting too old for the target audience. A familiar argument!

To be fair he did do 7 years on Capital FM on the Breakfast & did well considering he followed Chris Tarrant's 17-18 Year reign on their Breakfast Show (of which until he left Radio 1 hardly beat him to "number 1 breakfast show" when he was at Capital).

I'm 28 & even I am getting fed up with the whole "too old for the target market" bollocks, these * management teams haven't a sodding clue, wankers.

2 points i found when i read the artical.
How the hell was he on a million a year.
And if its true with what ben said that capital breakfast goes national in january.
I can see chris going there in the future when he leaves radio 1.
Just my 2 cents worth on that.

good point. Depends if scott wants breakfast though.

Either way. It is going to be a very big bargining tool when contract renewal comes up in 2012.

Johnny Vaughan leaves Capital

Postby G-Sizzle » Sat Nov 19, 2011 10:09 pm

I used to listen to Johnny when Chris was on holiday. I know I'm in the minority here (because alot of people seem to agree with moyles just for the sake of it) but I thought his show was pretty damn funny.

I agree with what others have said tho, all this age related bollocks really is stupid. If someone is funny & popular then does it really matter how old they are?

It's the 'lucrative' yoof market though apparently, never really knew exactly why.

Johnny Vaughan leaves Capital

Postby G-Sizzle » Sat Nov 19, 2011 11:40 pm

Well Scott will never get the breakfast gig on Radio 1, especially since Moyles signed his contract extension.
Mills isnt getting any younger so I suppose he wants the chance to do a big show before he's deemed "too old"

Fair play to Mills if it's true, he's an entertaining DJ who probably would be Radio 1's breakfast host of it wasn't for Moyles.

He was on the Xtra-Factor tonight, where someone appeared to have stolen all his hair. No mention was made of Capital though.

It would be a great move for Scott if he made the move to Leicester Square. The mention in that link about deleted tweets is interesting if true!! I know Dave Berry was standing in for JV recently, he would seem a safe pair of hands?

Personally I would have been expecting another TV personality rather than a bona fide DJ to get the Capital gig as much as I dislike that trend.

I think scott is happy where he is personally.
