Have you downloaded Ffmpeg For Audacity?

I redownloaded it and reinstalled it, but I'm pretty sure I already had it. And I still had the same problem in Audacity. Thankfully, I've managed to record the whole of yesterday's show from Quicktime Player into my sequencer, and GetiPlayer downloaded today's show fine (AAC/m4a went into Sound Forge easily). So I'm uploading yesterday's and today's edited shows now.

Nice. GetiPlayer isn't working again! For some reason when it tries to download the show, it keeps retrying about 20 times, and then eventually it takes about half an hour to download a wma file, which my computer thinks is 3.5hrs long, but it definitely isn't, because although I can play the beginning, if I try and skip to a later part, it just stops trying to play it. This is trying my folder, neil's folder, my folder with the archive files added, neil's folder with the archive added.

So I suppose I'll have to try and uninstall everything. Does that mean I will have to uninstall each of the programs one at a time? And is uninstalling any of those programs going to cause problems for any of my other programs that I might have?

get_iplayer is from a Linux origin, so doesn't go romping all over your hard drive like a normal Windows app. I'd follow the instrucs I posted here: viewtopic.php?f=28&t=23275&start=25#p443925

I haven't done Windows Updates for ages, partly because it seems to slow my PC down even more that it already was, and also because I get a DEP error when I try to run Windows Updates in IE. Ironic that Microsoft IE is stopping from doing a Microsoft Windows Update, but there you go. And of course, you can't do it through Firefox.

I'm on XP. I can't see any instructions on that link. Do you mean doing the Revo thing? I checked the Revo page but it's a paid product as far as I can tell. I'll try uninstalling of these then:

No, I'd just uninstall get_iplayer. Forget the rest. I'd use http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uni ... nload.html to remove it.

Well, by all means try it with another get_iplayer distribution, but my folder is proven to work on my 2 PCs and another forum member here. I've already done the rename on my folder, so if you use that, you don't need to rename anything.

After you've done the nuking (and maybe a reboot to be safe), I'd install this: http://www.infradead.org/get_iplayer_wi ... latest.exe

Then overwrite the folder with mine.

Well I uninstalled everything (when I chose to uninstall GetiPlayer it gave me the option to install the other programs too). Then I ran the "latest setup file" thing and installed everything again. Then I extracted your archive file and replaced the getiplayer folder. But Web VPR manager still won't run at all, and GetiPlayer seems to be doing the same thing it did before - retrying over and over, before creating a wma of the first half-hour or something.

I've tried Radio Downloader again, which has managed to download the first two hours of today's show, so I'm just going to record the rest of the show live from the iPlayer.

I have to say though, I think that's going to be it for me soon. I've had it with this. And I can't spend 3.5hrs of every day recording the show manually. Could well be end of archive unfortunately, unless someone else starts doing it.

I did normal, and it didn't work. So now I'm doing it all again, but with Revo, doing a "Moderate" uninstall. It's asking me what registry items to delete. Do I select all of them?

It'd be safe to delete the get_iplayer bit, but if that's all it found, the Revo uninstall may not improve matters.

My nature is to bang away until it gets working, but I'm starting to run out of ideas. As I have spare PCs, I'd be using a different one at this point...

If you want to revisit it any point, I'd maybe post your problem on a forum discussing get_iplayer.

I browsed their mailng list to find the solution to getting it to work without recoding the audio (that got me the build that we're all using), so that would be where I'd go next.

Your problem looks similar to the one i had last week and it eventually cleared itself up. Neil's folder worked great for me though. I just deleted the get_iplayer folder in program files and copied his over. Unfortunately i have no internet atm though as my router packed up last night and i can't get on the internet to get the drivers for the modem!

I'm trying it all again, and again it's looking like I'm going to end up with an unusable wma. Although it has given a working wma in the past, so who knows.

In the meantime, if anyone could upload today's show (or at least today's show from 1hr55mins onwards) then I will edit it, and upload my edit.

I'll keep trying GetiPlayer, but I'm thinking I might just try setting the Chris Moyles Show to record from my cable TV to my DVD recorder each morning, on a DVD-RW, and then hopefully I might be able to rip the audio from it each day, to edit and upload it.

I think these problems stem more from the fact that today's show seems generally messed up on the iPlayer. I get about 10 mins in and then it acts as if the show is finished, making it necessary to reload the page and skip back to where I was previously.

I've tried get_iplayer, Radio Downloader and even StreamTransport and non of them want to know at this point.

So this is probably a mess up on the BBC's end.

No, it's not iPlayer screwing up. iPlayer has had problems in the past, but I haven't had any issues in at least 6 months. I grab the show at about 11:15am every day, and it takes about 5 minutes.
