Isn't it already covered to some extent on Radio 1 in the form of the rock show? Or are they different enough that it doesn't work like that?

It is. The OP was asking for there to be more metal on the Chris Moyles Show, not just on R1.

No we haven't. Radio 1 has played metal, even on the playlist, but the breakfast show plays to the widest demographic of Radio 1's audience. Metal just isn't popular enough across the population as a whole to justify a play on breakfast.

Aled, I really enjoyed listening to the highlights from Hackney on last weeks shows.Do you have any plans to do the same for T in the Park or Reading or was it just a one off

Did it ;) But you're right. I'd also be willing to bet not all the listeners were quite so enthralled at 40mins of every show being taken up with Hackney highlights.

hey Al, was thinking while on way up motorway this morning - do you (or anyone else who reads this) know how Rachel and Carrie are doing these days?!
I've actually met Chris n shook his hand. This fact is still causing slight issues in my trouser dept....

Maybe an impersonal answer, but an answer nonetheless:

seems Carrie's pregnant again!

Aled,

Has Chris ever been offered to a documentary for radio 1 stories? Just wondered as everyone else seems to have done a show or two but not Chris

That's what bothers me, demographic will be low when you have the rock show at midnight!! I have too much to watch/read to use iplayer. I like metal/rock as well as lots of other instrument based bands such as Kasabian and Kaiser Chiefs. But even if you don't including metal, I think less and less of these bands are played, and I mean daytime before 7pm when audience is highest. As an example as at a friends who had the radio on and thought it was Radio 1 until I noticed it was 1 xtra, basically there's not much difference in what both stations play!!. And that's my big worry, by the end of the decade bands in the traditional sense will go the same way as metal and will not be popular enough to played (just look at the current top 10). Vicious circle something not popular unless it gets played on a morning (big audience), but it's deemed not popular so won't get played!!

I'm sure Chris did a Radio 1 documentary for the 50th anniversary?

That's right, but pretty sure it wasn't the 50th anniversary, wasn't it to commemorate becoming the longest running breakfast show presenter?

Aled, just wanted to say I thought the show was excellent this morning. Right from the opening link through to the handover, you were all on great form!!

Are there any more outside broadcasts planned for the coming weeks? And even beyond the Olympic Torches?

Aled, I've heard Chris talk about bingo in the past and he seems to enjoy it. I can offer you my bingo hall for the morning for "The Chris Moyles Show: Breakfast Bingo". Chris and the team can play bingo, call numbers etc. just thought its something a bit different and I'm not too far away from London either so it won't mean too much travelling. We have plenty of room here in the service yard for the broadcast trucks and lots of space inside too, you could even invite listeners to join in as we have about 400 seats. Obviously I can tell you more about it but I thought I'd just throw the idea out there for now. Please bring it up at the next production meeting if you can

All the best

I think that would be entertaining for a few minutes, but then essentially it's just a large group of people sitting there while marking off numbers for a good 40-50 minutes. On the radio.

Remember when they broadcast from the old BBC building up here and they used to play bus stop bingo with the bus stop outside? Ah, memories.

The show would be as normal but with bingo interludes. The average game of bingo lasts 4-5 minutes and can be even quicker depending on the game type. The team could take turns calling games and other things. There are many things with a game of bingo to make it more entertaining by putting your own twist on it.
