17 Jan 08 :: Downtime, Updates and History

Postby Chris » Thu Jan 17, 2008 9:20 pm

Happy New Year everyone, as I haven't managed to get around to saying it yet.

You may have noticed that the website has been unavailable for a few hours each morning for the past week or so. This is due to a problem with the primary web server, but I'm pleased to say that something has been put in place to hopefully make sure it won't happen moving forward - things should still be running fine when I wake up tomorrow. I hope.

There's been a few changes around the place, mostly little things. The front page has had a small face lift. There was a more serious makeover, but I decided I didn't really like it after all so went for the small tweaks. You may also notice the message at the top of the screen, 'Celebrating ten years of chrismoyles.net'. Yep, in June this year the site will officially have been around for ten years and for those who weren't around this is how it all began.

That's all for now, happy arguing!

Happy New Year to you too Chris.

I like the new look front page I'm glad you didn't change it too much though. Place certainly has changed a lot.

Happy New Year, Chris. I had noticed a few odd times when the site was down. I also noticed the little tweaks you've done here and there -- including the 10 years thingy. Congratulations!
Ha! How funny. I remember that Moyles World page! I suddenly feel really old.

My god, it doesn't seem like five years ago that you were celebrating being five years old! Crikey.

Is that a green light to argue?

Pushing my luck?

Happy new year Mr Harris.

Belated Happy new year Mr Harris.

I don't rememeber that front page but then I only discovered this place......6(?) years ago? I know it was before I moved to London....

I downloaded the sound machine to run a "Millionaire" night at one of my venues and used the sound pak to make it more real. But I found the site a few years before that I think.

I wonder if he sticks this place on his CV? I mean, I think it's something to be proud of as well, but potential employers may see it as a distraction I suppose, especially if they visit the board! Or even an obsession.

I would think that would depend on what he does for a living.........if he's a neurosurgeon, it might not be too relevant.

True. I was assuming (possibly unreasonably, possibly not) that he works in IT.

We know more about Chris Moyles life than we do about Mr Harris.

What DOES anyone know about him - not that I'm some weird stalker or anything as Alice has suggested.

Chris (on the Board Members profiles) wrote:You'll notice a massive lack of any information about who actually created this site - that's because it was never designed as an egotistical 'look how popular my web site is', but as something useful. You're honestly not going to be any better off knowing what colour my car is, what school I went to or whether I prefer brown or white bread.

I'm not sure I exactly know this, but I got the impression that his work (whatever that is) takes him to far flung places around the world. I might be making this up though.

I like that he's an enigma. I don't want to know about him, I like the mystery.

I imagine he has three heads and shoots fire from his fingers and controls a vast empire of killer insect warriors.

I've not yet woken up properly though.

Does that make Console a killer insect warrior? Nice.

I can imagine that with antenae sticking out his head and six arms to operate 3 computers at once and compound eyes to keep track of them all.

I wish I liked coffee, need to wake up!

And Console is definitely a man-sized killer wasp type thing.

I would say Console is 1. half a website developer 2. half a writer of books.

You guys have made Console sound like Zorak. It's put me off my tea.
I like not knowing about Chris. It's very MI6. Although, having said that, Chris, white bread or brown bread??
