The chatroom has been changed so that it shares its user database with the forum. This means that you must be a registered user of the forum in order to make use of the chat room.
This will hopefully address some of the recent complaints with regard to content and offensive usernames. If anyone is misusing the room please let one of the site moderators know who can then ban that user from the forum and the chatroom.
