The Sun reports that Chris has split with gorgeous TV presenter Ana Boulter.
But the Radio 1 DJ and Ana, who hosts the BBC's kiddies' coverage, hope the break-up is not permanent.
Chris, whose show pulls in 5.5million listeners a week, told The Sun: We've put things on hold but hopefully they aren't terminal and we can get back on track.
We are taking a breather and she's living with a mate.
We moved in together quite quickly and we're just seeing what happens but we've been talking on the phone a lot and I still love her.
I think we both need a bit of space and we are both extremely busy with our careers. It's difficult but I'm OK.
We're going to see what happens and I hope we can work it out.
Pals say the couple's hectic workloads mean they have spent little time together.
They met a year ago at the Beeb, with Ana soon falling for the radio star's witty charm.
They became an item after only a couple of dates and within three months had moved in to a plush apartment in London.
Ana was credited with taming the star, persuading him to cut down on his boozing, have his hair restyled and lose some weight. A pal said: They still have feelings for each other.
They're really suited and they have a good laugh together.
Neither really wanted to split but they both know it's the best thing for now.
