Absolutely, but this thread was specifically about celeb deaths. I agree with you though, what a truly unbelievable thing to have happened. Layabout Yudster has friends in Oslo, who he managed to contact pretty quickly - one of them was just a couple of streets away from the bomb when it went off but he was fine. He also knew two people that were going to the conference thingy on the island, and was panicking like hell because he couldn't get hold of them for the best part of a day - they turned up safe though because one of them had been unwell so they had decided at the last minute not to go. They know lots of people who were there though, some still missing, some known dead and some fine. They are all just in shock over there.

It's an AWFUL thing to have happened, beyond comprehension but I think the response from the Norwegian government - and in particular the Prime Minister - has been amazing, it must have been so difficult, especially when he knew some of those killed personally.

A page (in Norwegian, but I imagine you can easily translate it, I can in Chrome) of all the victims' photos with brief bios. Terribly sad to see it like this. http://nrk.no/minnetavle/#1312061029205 ... frame970px

Sad he has died, Hightower was my favourite character in the show. I found Mahoney a bit too annoying for me.

Actress Annette Charles, famous for playing ChaCha DiGregorio (the one who danced the hand jive with John Travolta in the dance competition) in Grease, has died of cancer today. RIP.

Just heard that Warrant singer Jani Lane has died aged 47. No cause known as yet. Gutted - I'd be posting the Cherry Pie video right now if I wasn't on my phone! RIP.

Bit late (surprised it's not here already), but oh no, Flight Jon Egging died. I'd never heard of him before yesterday and probably neither had most of us, but the Red Arrows are BRILLIANT and what they do is amazing.

I was sad when i heard of the Flt Lt Jon Egging died. I didn't know him at all but my friend who is currently out in Afghanistan will know him as they would have worked together at last years Waddington Air Show. My thoughts go out to to the Reds family and all at Scampton.

I have seen The Red Arrows for many years and they always impress every time.

What? The Red Arrows don't crash! That's not allowed, surely its against the law? Oh poor man, and poor family. It sounds from what I have read that he averted an even bigger tragedy by his actions before he ejected - I'm not in the least bit surprised.

Oh no.

Oh no indeed. I was really looking forward to seeing the red arrows this week. It was truly heroic of him to fly the plane away from a built up area and in doing so lose his own life.

I think this is where legend is apt

Maybe not legend but the other word that gets used far too much these days is "hero" - if what we've heard is true, its applicable here.
