Right. I've downloaded get_iplayer and tried the PVR manager but I am confused. Can someone explain the concept behind it and how to use it? Can you actually download past programmes?

iTunes usually does, but i think there's something wrong with these .aac files, because my phone doesn't recognise them either, which makes it half-pointless downloading shows (i like to listen on my phone when i go out).
I've met billy on security.

It's still limited to the iPlayers max duration (7 days innit?)

You need to update the cache to list all the radio programmes to download them, unfortunately I only have it at work atm so I cant help until tomorrow morning on that! :(

I've been using RadioDownloader for about six months now and up until now it has been fine, but i'm convinced something is going on at the moment with FLV streaming from the iPlayer service. Normally, i would run RadioDownloader on a Friday evening and leave it with a list of 25-30 shows to download from all over the BBC network and generally they would all be done by Saturday morning. This week, i started them as normal, and we've got to 15:30 on Sunday afternoon and we're only up to Wednesday Morning. Up until this week, i'd only had one fail on me that i couldn't attribute to my router. The Wednesday breakfast show is now on its third attempt. (Yeah, i know its Scott but don't shoot me, eh?)

The other evidence i have to back this up is that the piece of software i use for streaming iPlayer video (which isIPDD) has been struggling to download anything at all over the past week. I normally download five or six shows a week of stuff which generally doesn't get uploaded to UKNova or TheBox.bz and its been murder this week, with a 45 minute show taking three or four hours to download and up to 12 attempts to actually get it to stream without timing out.

I'll be out to play with the laptop tomorrow, so i might have a leech of some free WiFi and see if it appears to be an ISP specific problem (I'm with Demon, normally good as gold), but i have my suspicions that there is some sort of bandwidth restriction being put on how fast data can fly out of the iPlayer servers.

I'm having the same problem. A 2 hour show now takes me about an hour to download whereas before it took about 5 minutes

Right I've found a fix for anyone who is still having problems with the 'converting' process. Once it goes on to converting enter a similar directory to this:

C:\Documents and Settings\Ben\Local Settings\temp\RadioDownloader

and the .wav file will be there. Then put that file into itunes and it convert to mp3 in about 10 minutes which should be quicker than the radio downloader speed
