Yeah, my friend Lisa Marie's mum is running with it too. Seems like lots of us know someone who is!

Oh dear, this whole torch thing is getting murkier and murkier! Apparently a certain number of places for torchbearers has been reserved for the sponsors usage! Coca Cola has apparently flown in some of its executives from America to carry the torch. Bear in mind thousands of applicants got turned down, people who actually deserve to carry the torch :(

I'm gonna hold my hands up and admit that I'm getting a bit bored of all the torch-talk now. I understand it's a BBC thing to promote it but it seems to be taking up 90mins of every show.

Thank you for saying this since I feel the exact same way and thought I would have got blasted somewhat for saying it! It seems they have nothing else to do hence why they spend a good chunk of each show promoting it! I know they have to promote it but keep it to a minimum instead of shoving it down our throats! Heck, I'd welcome Hackney weekend stuff at this point, which shockingly is not getting promoted as much as before due to this it seems! Might be promoted more on other shows perhaps!

That jingle though. Pure gold, and they can use it for other stuff, like reliving classic bits from the show, anytime in the future.

Isn't it the same one they used for the theatre tour? Cos when they play it and sing "the Chris Moyles Show", I hear the words "on tour" in my head. Or maybe I'm just mental.

No you're not mental. As far as I'm aware.

The tour jingle was quite upbeat.

Chris' Announcement

Postby English Bob » Tue Jun 12, 2012 7:07 pm

Did my ears play tricks on me, or did Chris say he had something to 'announce' today? I'm sure he was going to announce something, then Aled said 'do it later' and Chris never got round to it.

Did I miss something?

Today (Wednesday 13th) is the last day the torch will be in Scotland though.

It crosses the border tomorrow.

Ah yes of course, so it will be in Scotland for a part of the journey tomorrow.

There was a gathering in a park next to my house recently with a concert and so on before the torch arrived. I couldn't bring myself to walk the 200 yards to see it though. Not keen on the olympics at all.

If this is just about the torch tour, I'll merge the threads.

I think its actually something to do with Hackney and was probably just the announcement that Nicki Minaj is playing.

Oh, do you think? I didn't hear any mention of an announcement to be honest.

Well it was just before the conversation they had about Hackney where Chris spoke about how Nicki Minaj was playing and where Aled mentioned that you can watch it all on your mobile.

I saw the Torch tour support team leaving Holiday Inn in Sheffield this morning (which is v.near my office). No torch, jus' the support vehicles.
I've actually met Chris n shook his hand. This fact is still causing slight issues in my trouser dept....

I couldn't believe it when they mentioned recently that the Torch Tour is now only about HALFWAY through, it seems like we've been having to hear about it on a daily basis for much, much longer than that. I can't wait for the bloody Olympics to start simply because it will mean that this boring feature will be over.

I went out to see it arrive in Manchester on Saturday. Unfortunately, the crowds were so big that I struggled to see it even on the big screen, let alone in person.

In a way I feel like I must be missing out on something, but I just can't summon up even a modicum of interest in watching random people walking and running with a large torch in a different place each day for weeks on end. It seems like a bit of a case of the Emperor's new Clothes to me (with me being the clever little child in the story of course).

I suspect I wouldn't have been bothered if they hadn't talked it up so much on the show. That said, I agree that I'm bored of it taking up half an hour of the show every day.

I work for a posh supermarket that's based there (I don't work there though) and I bet they get in n the act somehow. Well bar the fact that they have a store in the olympic village.

If you mean Waitrose they technically own Bracknell now and the route goes directly past the store here so they will be all over it.
