I loved that moment today at about 7.45am when she started on one of her showbiz stories and Chris just went "yeah, that's boring" and cut her off.

Schedule from 9th April when Chris is off

Postby chrysostom » Tue Apr 03, 2012 10:12 am

I think that kind of positive press is something that's too unpredictable to engineer - if it was a PR stunt, then it was ill-advised, but also the genuine presence of an injunction and court cases for defamation makes me think she's made the best out of a bad situation.

But I disagree on the sex tape issue. If you're with a long term partner then you should be able to entrust them with something of that nature, if they should choose to betray that trust then they're the ones at fault in my opinion.

Having said all this, if I'm proved wrong then I'll look very silly.

I was rather hoping today would be better than yesterday. It wasn't. If we weren't about to be subjected to two weeks of Scott Mills I'd be turning off for the rest of this week, but I'd rather put up with Tulisa and hear Chris and the rest of the team than go three weeks without listening to the radio at all.

Besides, she might actually sleep in at some point this week.

Do you really think that people like Tulisa and other tinpot celebs have the same ideas about what constitutes a suitable partner for a long term relationship as we do? If you do, I think you are sweet, charming but VERY naive. Different lifestyles lead to different expectations and different values. The type of lifestyle she is well documented as leading is going to mean her frame of reference for life and everything in it - including sex and relationships - is different from ours. Not worse necessarily (although its easy to have that opinion), not better, just different.

Anyway, I listened to her on the show this morning perfectly prepared to like her if she was likeable - she wasn't really. I didn't hate her, but she added nothing and encouraged Chris to indulge in some of his less entertaining habits. I think she should stick to singing, she's not bad at that.

As a few others have said - she adds nothing to the show. I don't have anything against her but she's just not a radio presenter.

She's clearly never listened to the show (judging by some of the stupid questions she was asking) and was just ... dull!

I tried to listen this morning but I switched of after the pub quiz, As other people have said before Tulisa is very dull, seems like she would rather be elsewhere and to me has unbalanced the dynamics of the team, so makes it not very entertaining to listen

So cause of this I will have to stop listening Wed and Thurs and listen elsewhere for the next 2 weeks while Mills is covering (don't like Scott) and instead look forward to things being back to normal when they are back on the 23rd April all rested.

Yep, seems like my first instincts from yesterday were correct. She is boring, boring, boring. Also, she triggers Chris doing his stupid 'funny voices' like his 'omgi' thing that Yuds mentioned.

One big flaw of Chris', he does things he thinks are funny, and will keep running with it regardless...

Although it did make me laugh to hear Chris keep referring to Tulisa's sex tape, and hearing her completely ignoring it/not noticing it.

Ah well, I have plenty of Nerdist podcasts lined up on my phone :D

I think there is a small chance she won't be there tomorrow. I saw a couple of tweets from radio 1 literally begging her fans to send in messages of support for her whilst she does the show.
Chris isn't stupid, he has been doing the job long enough to know what works and what doesn't. It's clear to see neither party are enjoying the experience that much so I don't think it doesn any harm to cut it short.

I'm guessing this is a tape reference - haven't seen it or made any attempt to find out what the details are so I am only guessing...!

I'm not saying I think she won't bail, but if she did it would be pretty huge. I would be shocked.

She may well want to finish it but so many people are turned off by her (no pun intended). It's damaging the show to have her there in my opinion. I will go on record to say I don't like her, her music or the band she was in but I wouldn't have a problem if she was actually doing a good job. For her to question why music played in the background while Chris was speaking is just laughable. The fact she did absolutely no research about the regular features on the show tells you a lot about her.

Well, I'm not entirely sure that we on here are a typically representative sample of the show's audience to be fair, I think we are a bit "niche" in many ways - it may be that she's getting more love from other directions.

I'm not enjoying her presence particularly but she's not really bothering me, its not like she'll be there for long.

I was listening to the show for a few minutes this morning just before the end of the show, it was really quite funny how Chris kept slipping in mentions of the video and Tulisa, either not realising them or just ignoring them, trying to continue speaking.

I don't really listen to the radio anymore but that was really quite funny. If it wasn't for my dislike of all music played on Radio 1 and my dislike of listening to the radio in the mornings, I'd listen to the show a lot more.

Team dynamics have changed with Dave going on holiday (I've only properly listened today, so can't comment for mon and tues). Dom seems to have taken a back seat. The first time I heard him talk was at around 7.15 (not including the news). It seems to be Aled who has really taken the role of Dave and Tulisa just dips in and out, normally with Chris keeping her involved.

I don't have a problem with Tulisa. I initially thought it was a terrible idea but she seems to be settling in. She was good today.

I have to say after not listening for a few days today it is a lot better. I guess it takes some time to get used to it. I know I would never say a word if I came on the show, I would be so nervous.

I didn't hear the intro on Monday. Tuesday to be honest I thought she was awful - it was unprofessional of her to come in sounding so half asleep and unprepared - she knew she was going to be doing it, sort it out. Wednesday - I think she had sorted it out and she sounded a lot more settled. Thursday - she was great actually. I really enjoyed the opening link and the 7 - 7.30 slot.

I remember liking the first couple of N-Dubz interviews/visits to the studio and being surprised because they aren't my cup of tea musically and Dappy is such a tit. I wouldn't say I have changed my opinion about Tulisa as such, but I enjoyed her contribution today.

I think we would all be a tad nervous of being on the show, but she is a loud mouth chav!

I cannot understand why she was chosen and for 4 days :-? I have not listened to much of the show because of her. Tuned in for Matt leaving thingy today .. if it happens.

I know Tulisa is target audience but surely they could have got someone in that listens to the show! I think that's the main difference between Olly and Tulisa. Because she doesn't listen to it she doesn't understand a lot of what's going on and appears miserable and bored(at times). Olly was obviously a listener beforehand so was genuinely excited at things!

You can hear awkward silences when Chris is trying to have banter with her, I feel sorry for him!

Hardline fact there. You have to remember that this is a forum frequented by fans of the show - I don't think we represent the average listener, and I think a majority of the audience probably welcome a bit of a change.

Deadly wrote:For her to question why music played in the background while Chris was speaking is just laughable. The fact she did absolutely no research about the regular features on the show tells you a lot about her.

Quite a few guests question the bed, and it's usually cleared up quickly. Taking 4 days from her schedule around the time of a single release is probably quite a big ask (which makes the decision for her to come on the show all the more intriguing), so I don't think that researching the show would be top of her list of priorities.

I haven't listened to today's show or most of yesterday's but I listened to the opening link on Wednesday and it seemed that she was better than she was on Tuesday because she just sounded half asleep and would rather be still in her bed than in the studio but least she was awake the next day.

I know some of you do be a little upset when the team goes off on holiday but this is the first time since I started listening to the show that I am not really that upset of the 2 week break because it hasn't been that great for the most part the last few weeks although some of you would disagree but hopefully with the break, they will get back into the swing of things and pretty much remind me why I started listening to it in the first place.
