People should have a view though. Just parotting out "everything is great" all the time is just stupid especially when no reasons are given for it.

*sigh*

It's not disrespect.

Fans have just as much of a right to criticise as they do to praise. They earn it by virtue of showing commitment, and buying into the values of the show.

It's in the interest of fans for the show to live up to their expectations. Different fans have different expectations - I'm usually quite positive about the show in general, but I have to say that I don't think there's been an 'unmissable' show this year yet. Standards are dropping in my opinion.

The way I look at it the show and Chris get enough crtisim from people who don't get/listen to the show so as the undisputed hardcore fans we should always be behind it. I accept the show is hugely different to the breakfast show of 5 years ago. Since Andy Parfitt left I'd say the show has been more controlled and tame but I don't blame Chris for that I blame Ben Cooper. I think Ben Cooper would love nothing more than to pull the plug on the Chris Moyles show, he probably feels the show is beneath Radio 1 but with the listening figures still high he wouldn't get away with it at the moment.
A lot of my "everything is great" approach is somewhat tongue in cheek but I do love the show. Imagine the mornings without it?

I also agree with this. I wouldn't say it was because Chris has taken his eyes of the ball. I would say the production team must be sitting on their hands or are too busy for the future and nothing is being considered for the now.

You're basing that on nothing other than speculation.

I agree that without the breakfast show I would be missing a significant portion of my entertainment, but that doesn't mean that we can't have an opinion on whether it's getting worse. Indeed, at times members of the show team come on here to see what criticisms FANS of the show have.

The criticism from those who don't listen to the show is unfair - but you're referring to Moyles bashers who couldn't offer a reasoned opinion on the show if they were asked. Fans of the show know it very well, and can offer constructive criticism that can help people address problems.

Without feedback (both positive and negative) the show team have no gauge on what is working, and what isn't. It's better that they learn the show's shortcomings from fans as opposed to having them reflected in the listening figures - as we provide instant feedback that can be taken into account before it impacts on the show. At times it's very harsh on here - but when criticism comes from someone with no negative agenda who is a massive fan, don't you think it shows the bigger picture?

Basically, don't accuse people of being disrespectful for having an opinion that is different to yours. Especially when that opinion is more reasoned than yours.

I think he has taken his eye off the ball in recent months, but you are correct that there are certainly other reasons why the show hasnt been so strong of late.

The team would have to follow him around I'd imagine. They could just do the show from the nearest local BBC station.

Well it's a nine date tour at the moment and they are reasonably evenly spaced with a few being on Fridays, so it doesn't look like too big a struggle, but judging by the spacing of the dates they must be allowing for extra dates being added. If that is the case it would surely be a big struggle to do the radio show as well.

I would imagine he will be in the local BBC studio and do it from there, but it is far from ideal.

From The Guardian: King Herod:

Age: Uncertain, but at least 49 when he died; about 2,032 had he lived.

Appearance: At the London O2 arena come September, before embarking on a nationwide tour.

What? He has risen from the dead? He's not going to start murdering firstborns from Docklands to Durham, is he? Because that's really going to kill the post-Olympics buzz. No. You're thinking of Herod the Great.

Who are you talking about then? Herod Antipas, who was responsible for the execution of John the Baptist and Jesus of Nazareth.

Jesus of Nazareth being … That Jesus, yes.

Just wanted to be clear. So, still a bad guy and still bad news for London and the regions, no? It won't be the real King Herod. It will be Chris Moyles, who has been given the role by Andrew Lloyd Webber in the forthcoming 40th anniversary production of Jesus Christ Superstar.

That is substantially worse news. There's more. Mel C is playing Mary Magdalene and Jesus is going to be cast with the help of an ITV talent show.

Oh dear God. I don't think he's listening.

So the bad boy of Radio 1 gets to play one of history's greatest villains. Do you think he will be modernising the role, delicately infusing it with his own brand of sexism and homophobia that has seen him censured by Ofcom and embraced by the great British public? I suspect not. Reputation alone will probably have to suffice.

Is it a major part? In the musical, obviously. I realise he had quite a role in the real thing. If there was a real thing, if you know what I mean. He appears in the second act and has one big number – the ragtime Try It and See, which contains the lyrics: "Prove to me that you're divine/Turn my water into wine."

Will he be missing any of his Radio 1 breakfast shows? Possibly, though a BBC spokesman said that he has broadcast from non-London studios before and could easily do so again.

So there is no good news in this anywhere? Not really, sorry.

Do say: "Goodbye Britain, I am emigrating."

Don't say: "£65 a ticket? What a bargain! What do you mean, I pay them?"

I see The Guardian are showing their usual love for Chris in the article.

I'm not sure what to think about this. On the one hand, good on Chris for grabbing the kind of opportunity that may never come his way again, whether it's met with critical acclaim (unlikely) or whether he's left with egg on his face. On the other hand, added to his other forays into presenting crappy tv shows, putting out an album, and book writing, the phrase 'jack of all trades, master of none' does rather spring to mind.

Ultimately, I just hope that it doesn't have too big an impact on the radio show.

In fairness respect to Chris for doing this, I'm surprised on one hand but not at all on the other. It'll be interesting to see how it turns out.

I'm not really a fan of musicals, and I don't think Chris would really be the type to like them either, but I'm pleased that he is at least trying other things.

Hasn't he openly said in the past that he doesn't like musicals?

Not that that precludes someone from being in one.

it's certainly a tricky situation. This musical is kind of affiliated with ITV, due to the Jesus-finding show, so I doubt the BBC bosses would like Chris talking about this every day. which he most probably would if the show and team will be following him around the country.

JCS isn't the best show but done well its good. Herod is by far the best part in it and I can see Chris having a lot of fun with it. I want to see it.
