Creating Your Own SoundPaks:
It is possible to create your own SoundPaks for use with the Sound Machine by following these simple instructions. If your Pak is good, feel free to submit it to info@chrismoyles.net and we may add it to the site. Ensure that you are able to view the extensions for files. To do this, go to the 'Tools' menu in Windows Explorer and select 'Folder Options':
Scroll until you see the highlighted option below and ensure it is not checked:
Collect together 11 sound files you want to use in your SoundPak. Your sounds must be in MP3 format. You must have 11 files. They must be called 1.mp3, 2.mp3, 3.mp3 ... 11.mp3:
You can optionally create a Pak Info file for your SoundPak and add it to your zip file. This is a text file called 'PakInfo' (no extension) with the following format:
Assuming you have WinZip installed (any zip program will do, but these instructions cover WinZip only), right click in a blank spot of the window and select 'New' and then 'WinZip File':
Rename your WinZip file to 'SoundPakXX' where XX is a number lower than 50:
Drag a selection window around all your files (but not your SoundPakXX.zip file), and drag the sounds (and optional PakInfo file) onto the SoundPakXX.zip icon:
On the WinZip window that appears, click 'Add':
The last step is to rename your .zip file to SoundPakXX.pak, where XX is a number from 0 to 49.
You will recieve a warning, click Yes:
Finally, place your newly created SoundPak in the soundpaks/ folder under the main SoundMachine folder.
