Armand Van Helden You Don’t Know Me - Armand Van Helden was born in Boston, which is the city where Cheers was based - The cast of Cheers included Ted Danson, Shelley Long and Woody Harrelson, who also starred in the movie “White Men Can’t Jump” - “Jump” was originally a 1984 hit for the Pointer Sisters, before being covered last year by Girls Aloud - Girls Aloud are made up of Kimberley, Sarah, Nadine, Nicola and Cheryl - Cheryl goes out with Ashley Cole, who plays his football for Arsenal - and “arsenal” is the word you’d use to describe a collection of guns - Guns 'N' Roses were led by wirey frontman Axl Rose - A rose is something you might give, or receive , on Valentines Day - Valentines Day takes place every year in February, which numerically is month number 2 - 2Pac has now got another new record even though he’s dead, this time featuring Elton John - Elton John shares the same surname as Stern John, who plays for Coventry - Coventry was bombed extensively during the war by the Germans - Germans like to drink beer, eat sausages and grow moustaches - The word “moustache” begins with the letter M, as do “marmite”, “mosquito” and “motorcycle” - and Motorcycle Emptiness was a big hit for the Manic Street Preachers - Which links us to (MC - the best f*cking band in the world), the Manic Street Preachers and... A Design For Life (Get in!)

    - FLAWS: - I refuse to see any after Dave chose this. But go on then:
*Elton John is of course really Reginald Dwight, so therefore doesn’t share the same surname as Stern John at all. Ooops Dave.
*”Jump” was a hit for Girls Aloud in November 2003, i.e. not last year, a fact nobody picked up on.

TRACK INFO: - Released April 1996
    - Got to number 2, kept criminally off top spot by Mark Morrison and Gina G, spending a total of 11 weeks on the chart.

    - MC FACT ATTACK: - The best song ever written. The best song ever recorded. Fact. The first single released after the disappearance of Richey in February 1995 - its just pure genius. Would have been nice to see Dave choose a different Manics track for Tedious though, which I thought he was gonna do for a second with Motorcycle Emptiness. My top 5 Manics tunes: 1. A Design For Life, 2. Motorcyle Emptiness, 3. Faster, 4. Motown Junk, 5. ifwhiteamerica.
    - ALBUM DETAILS: - From “Everything Must Go”, the Manics’ glorious Brit award winning June 1996 comeback, which spawned three subsequent top 10 singles and other gems such as “No Surface All Feeling” and “Elvis Impersonator: Blackpool Pier” (I f*cking love that song). Just a bloody brilliant album, go buy it please. P.S. But The Holy Bible is better.

Feeder High - High is the opposite of low, while Lowe first name Rupert is the chairman of Southampton FC - Southampton have now sadly been relegated, along with Crystal Palace and Norwich City - Norwich City’s most famous fan is undoubtedly celebrity chef Delia Smith - Delia Smith is good at making cakes - “Cakes” rhymes with “snakes”, which can be deadly and poisonous, a bit like mushrooms and certain types of dangerous berry - Berry first name Nick used to be in Heartbeat - Heartbeat is measured by finding your pulse - A pulse of a different type is something that you might find on a vegetarian menu - ‘Menu” is a good example of a word which is the same in both French and English, a bit like “champagne”, “rendezvous” and “croissants” - Croissants are nice for breakfast, with butter and jam - “Jam” rhymes with “ham”, which is a food that combines something I missed (sorry) with cheese - Cheese can be hard or soft, like water - Water can pose a very real hazard to non swimmers , and parents have to be extra vigilant with young children, who should really be protected with armbands - and if you remove the B from the word “armband” you get “armand”, as in Armand Van Helden, the top DJ and producer type guy - Which links us predictably to this mornings Friday dance fun Tedious Link track, Armand Van Helden and You Don’t Know Me

    - FLAWS: - Yeah probably. I cant be arsed anymore though so for the purposes of this once no.

TRACK INFO: - Released February 1999
    - Armand’s only UK chart topper, featuring Duane Harden, which spent 12 weeks on the UK Top 40 in total..

    - MC FACT ATTACK: - Armand Van Helden is a US dance music producer, whose remix produced the January 97 No 1 for Tori Amos with Professional Widow..
    - ALBUM DETAILS: - Taken from Armand’s debut album “2 Future 4 U”, which got to number 22 in the album charts back in April 1999, spending a total of 6 weeks on the countdown. Now bugger off and enjoy your bank holiday weekend everybody. Goodbye.

Neneh Cherry Buffalo Stance - I once saw Neneh Cherry and her family on the beach in Ibiza, fact - Ibiza is an island in the Mediterranean, as is Malta - People from Malta are called “Maltesers”, just like the sweets - “Sweets For My Sweet” was a hit for C J Lewis - C J Lewis shares the same surname as Carl Lewis, the American former Olympian - Olympian is a model of bus made by Leyland - Leyland is a town in Lancashire, as are Chorley, Preston and Darwin - Darwin first name Charles, wrote the book “The Origin Of The Species”, and spent a fair bit of time on the Galapagos islands looking at turtles and stuff - Turtles are related to terrapins, which are basically just miniature turtles, and make very good pets which you can keep in an area the size of a washing up bowl - “Bowl” is an anagram of the word “blow”, which precedes “fish”, “torch” and “monkeys” - Monkeys live in the jungle, as does Tarzan - “Tarzan Boy” was a top 3 hit in 1985 for the now sadly departed Baltimora - If you swap the second A of Baltimora for an E you get “Baltimore”, which is a town in Ireland - Ireland can be reached by ferry from Wales - and when you think of Wales and the great bands it’s created over the years, you think of, amongst others, Feeder - Which links us to this mornings more palatable musical treat (MC - in contrast to You’ll Never Walk Alone by Gerry & The Pacemakers), Feeder and High

    - FLAWS: - A few today, despite Daves claims that there was only one mistake:
*That being this - Preston is England’s newest city (since April 2002), and is no longer a town. Now home to the one and only Mr David Nugent of course... we made him what he is. Good luck for Monday.
*However, who exactly calls people from Malta “Maltesers? I would say they are known more commonly as the “Maltese”.
*Are maltesers actually sweets either? I would say they were more chocolate myself.

TRACK INFO: - Released October 1997
    - Only spent 2 weeks in the chart and got to number 24.

    - MC FACT ATTACK: - Feeder’s debut Top 40 chart hit, five years after they were formed back in 1992 by Grant Nicholas and the late Jon Lee in Newport, South Wales. I don’t mind Feeder but I don’t like this tune at all, so many better ones for Vitty to pick from...
    - ALBUM DETAILS: - Taken from their first full album “Polythene”, released in May 1997 and a record that reached the lofty heights of number.. er *cough* 65 *cough* in the UK Album Chart. ahem.

Appleton Fantasy - If you add “island” to Fantasy you get “Fantasy Island”, which starred Ricardo Montalban as Mr. Roarke - Mr. Roarke shares the same surname as Mickey Rourke, who stars in the new movie Sin City alongside Brittany Murphy, who in turn shares the same surname as Tommy Murphy - Tommy Murphy is a character played by this morning’s special guest, Mr James Nesbitt - James Nesbitt used to be in Cold Feet - Cold feet is what you get if you don’t wear socks - Socks are sold in pairs, as are gloves and ear muffs - If you remove the S from muffs and replace it with an I and an N you get “muffin”, which is the name of a famous mule - Mules are related to donkeys, which are a common sight on the beach in Blackpool, while “Blackpool” is the name of a drama series starring Sarah Parish out of Cutting It and actor David Morrissey - David Morrissey shares the same surname as Neil Morrissey, who’s mates with Leslie Ash - Ash is a type of tree - Trees perform photosynthesis, as does grass, which is then eaten by cows, which make milk and cheese - Cheese comes in different flavours such as edam, cheddar and mozzarella - and mozzarella is the only cheese in the world to be associated with buffalos - Which links us to Neneh Cherry and Buffalo Stance

    - FLAWS: - Yep, as usual:
*Mickey Rourke only shares the same surname as Mr. Roarke phonetically, which Dave failed to mention.
*Cows yes technically don’t make cheese, although Dave insisted that they are the first part of “the cheese process”. Cue a discussion with James Nesbitt about cheese, tomatoes, olives etc...

TRACK INFO: - Released December 1988
    - Neneh’s debut single, which went top 3 and spent 13 weeks on the UK singles chart.

    - MC FACT ATTACK: - Neneh Cherry (born Sweden, brought up New York) is of course the sister of Eage-Eye Cherry, the stepdaughter of jazz trumpeter Don Cherry and the winner of “Best International Newcomer” at the 1990 Brits.
    - ALBUM DETAILS: - Lifted from Neneh’s debut release “Raw Like Sushi”, a top 2 smash back in June 1989.. which spent 43 weeks on the UK Album Chart.

Stone Roses Fool's Gold - The Stone Roses were fronted by Ian Brown, who was responsible for one of my favourite records of all time “F.E.A.R” - F.E.A.R spells “fear”, which is what you would be feeling if you were swimming and came face to face with a great white shark - The great white shark is a ferocious killer with rows and rows of razor sharp teeth - Teeth are found in all meat eating creatures, where their job is to cut and chew - “Choo! Choo!” is a noise you would associate with a steam train - The plural of train is trains, which run on tracks - “Tracks Of My Tears” was a top 20 hit in 1993 for Go West - “Go west” is what many of the early pioneers did when they first arrived in America, and decided to ride off on a horse and stake their claim to a plot of land by putting a flag in it, like Tom Cruise did in the film “Far and Away” - “Away in a manger” is a Christmas carol which you might sing in church - Church first name Charlotte has a new single called “Crazy Chick”, taken from her album “Issues and Tissues” - Tissues are an essential purchase if you’ve got a cold - Coldplay are fronted by Chris Martin, who along with his partner Gwyneth Paltrow, has a little baby called Apple - and if you add the letters T, O and N to the end of Apple you get "Appleton" - Which links us to Appleton and a surprise pop fancy, Fantasy

    - FLAWS: - Seamless I presume. There was no interrogation of the link this morning, as Chris and Dave were still recovering from meeting one of their TV idols, Mr James Best, aka Rosco P. Coltrane, less than ten minutes before.

TRACK INFO: - Released September 2002
    - The Appletons debut single that got to number 2, spending 10 weeks on the singles chart.

    - MC FACT ATTACK: - Chris has a soft spot for the Appletons... aiii. Thats all folks.

    - ALBUM DETAILS: - Taken from the critically acclaimed “Everything's Eventual”, a top 9 hit back in March 2003. Only spawned 3 singles sadly too - Fantasy, Don’t Worry and Everything's Eventually.

Urban Cookie Collective The Key The Secret - The Key The Secret reached number 2 in 1993, the same year that “Informer” acheived the same chart position for the rapper Snow - Snow in the world of weather tends to be more prevalent during the winter - “Winter” rhymes with “splinter”, which is something you might get in your foot - Foot first name Michael is a well known politican and former leader of the Labour Party - If you remove the P from party and replace it with a C you get “Carty”, as in Todd Carty who played Mark Fowler in EastEnders - EastEnders is set in East London, which was also the location of yesterdays Radio 1 Soccer Six tournament at West Ham, where we were sadly beaten 3-2 in the final by Iron Maiden - Iron Maiden were traditionally led by diminutive frontman Bruce Dickinson, who enjoys fencing and flying planes, for he is a pilot - Pilot first name Ponchus was a character in the bible who was nasty to Jesus - Jesus was born in a manger and was visited by three wise men, who arrived bearing gifts including frankincense, myrrh and gold - and if you add the word “fool’s” to the front of gold, you get “Fool’s Gold’, the title of a classic record by the mighty Stone Roses - Which links us to the Stone Roses and Fool's Gold

    - FLAWS: - Just the one flaw today (aside from Daves post link ramblings about Ponchus Pilot, helicopters, Bethlehem and other religious guff):
*Paul DiAnno traditionally led Iron Maiden, before Bruce Dickinson joined for “The Number Of The Beast” album in April 1982.

TRACK INFO: - Released September 1989
    - This timeless musical gem was released originally as the B-Side to “What The World Is Waiting For” back in November 1989, spending 19 weeks on the chart and getting to number 8.

    - MC FACT ATTACK: - One of the most memorable Baggy songs, Mani's nagging bass is one of the most archetypal basslines ever, meanwhile John Squire goes mental with his wah-wah pedal (whatever one of those is) creating one of the most atmospheric, spooky and unstoppable tunes ever. Hmm all my own work that mini-review as you can tell...
    - ALBUM DETAILS: - From the best British album of all time (as voted for last year by The Observer Music Monthly Magazine), The Roses’s self titled May 89 debut “The Stone Roses” - which shockingly only got to number 19 in the album chart.

The Charlatans North Country Boy - Charlatans are the sort of people who might use crystal balls - Balls are an important thing to take with you for a game of tennis - Tennis is the sport of choice for musical legend Sir Cliff Richard - Sir Cliff Richard shares the same surname as actress Wendy Richard, who plays EastEnders’ Pauline Fowler - Pauline Fowler’s late husband was called Arthur, and was played by actor Bill Treacher, who in real life is a celebrity fan of Ipswich Town FC - Ipswich have once again failed in the play offs, having been knocked out on Wednesday night by West Ham - West Ham play their home matches at Upton Park in London, which will also stage Sundays much anticipated Soccer Six tournament, go online for all the details.. bbc.co.uk/radio1 - Won (MC - hmm tenuous) is the opposite of lost, while lost is also the opposite of found - If you add the letters R and Y to the end of “found” you get “foundry”, which is somewhere you might make steel bars - “Steel Bars” was a 92 hit for Michael Bolton - Bolton is the home town of Vernon Kay and Sara Cox - Cocks need to be combined with chickens in the world of farming - and if you had an inner city farm that was run as a collective, and in addition to keeping chickens also produced American style cuckoos for the discerning residents of this urban area, who demanded the best and fully understood the key and secret to a good biscuit, you’d probably refer to it as being an “urban cookie collective” - Which links us to Urban Cookie Collective and The Key The Secret

    - FLAWS: - A bit of a cock issue today (good mornin):
*Cocks need to be combined with hens, not chickens apparently. Dave got confused and asked for an explanation of the whole situation, but Chris couldn’t be arsed. He told Dave to just ask Aled about cocks... dunno why. (ber-dum-tish).

    TRACK INFO: - Released July 1993 & January 2005
    - Got to number 2 and spent 16 weeks on the chart originally, with January’s remixed “The Key The Secret 2005” peaking at number 31.

    - MC FACT ATTACK: - The Urban Cookie Collective were a Mancunian dance act comprising of vocalist Diane Charlemagne, keyboard player Rohan Heath, MC Marty (no relation) and the exotically named DJ Pete. Amazing, as DJ Sammy might say. Hmm.
    - ALBUM DETAILS: - Available on 2001’s “Back To The Old Skool” compilation double CD, alongside other hits from Strike, The Prodigy, Snap etc.. (full tracklisting is here).

A Tribe Called Quest Can I Kick It? - The first voice you hear on the start of Can I Kick It? is that of Mr Pete Tong - Pete Tong is the only man who can officially start the weekend - The weekend in this country consists of the days Saturday and Sunday, thus proving my theory that the first day of the week is Monday, fact - If you add “Manic” to the front of Monday you get “Manic Monday”, which was a big hit for The Bangles and preceded their follow-up hit “Walk Like An Egyptian” - The most famous Egyptian after Tutankhamun and Cleopatra is probably Mohammed Al Fayed, who owns Fulham - Fulham play their home matches at the newly redeveloped Craven Cottage - “Cottage” is a word associated with cheese - Cheese is a product which should be avoided or treated with great care by those suffering from a dairy allergy - Other well known allergies include nut and pollen, with the latter being responsible for the condition we know as hayfever - Hayfever can make your eyes water, as can onions - Onions are grown in the ground and can be red or white, a bit like wine - Wine is made from grapes, which like all fresh fruit and vegetables, are good for a healthy diet and the prevention of nasty things like scurvy and tuberculosis - Tuberculosis is referred to in medical circles by the abbreviation “TB”, which is also the initials of Tim Burgess from The Charlatans - Which links us to The Charlatans and North Country Boy

    - FLAWS: - Some quibbles today on the text messages:
*Cleopatra is Greek (she in fact isn’t cos I’ve checked - Dave was right).
*Fresh fruit and vegetables are part of a balanced healthy diet, and not specifically marked out as essential for the prevention of scurvy and TB. Fact.

TRACK INFO: - Released April 1997
    - Got to number four and spent six weeks on the chart.

    - MC FACT ATTACK: - As stated below, this track was taken from their impressive comeback album “Tellin' Stories”. It should have been a triumphant period for the band, but tragedy struck midway through its recording, when keyboardist Rob Collins was killed in a car accident.
    - ALBUM DETAILS: - “Tellin' Stories”, the bands fifth (and second number one) album, was released shortly after this single back in May 1997.

The Verve Lucky Man - Lucky Man by The Verve was a top 10 hit in the year 1997 - If you were born in the year 1997, you’d currently be late for school - “School” is a word also associated with fish - Fish live underwater, along with shells and sharks and octopi - “Octopi” is the plural form of the word “octopus”, which has tentacles and is related to the squid - Squid rings when deep fried are called “calamari” - Calamari is often served as tapas - “Tapas” is an anagram of “pasta”, which is also a type of food - “Food Glorious Food!” is a song taken from the musical “Oliver!” - Oliver Kahn plays in goal for Bayern Munich, who have just won the German league - League Of Gentleman is a comedy show set in the fictional town of Royston Vasey - “Royston Vasey” is so called because it is the real name of comedian Roy Chubby Brown - Roy Chubby Brown shares the same surname as chancellor Gordon Brown (MC - what Vasey?) - The word “brown” is made up of exactly 5 letters, as are the words “snake”, “denim”, “tulip” and “quest” - and when you think of the word “quest” in the context of great one hit wonder bands from yesteryear, you think of A Tribe Called Quest and Can I Kick It? - Which links us to A Tribe Called Quest and Can I Kick It?

    - FLAWS: - Hmm again problematic today:
*Technically at 8:58 (when Dave started to read the link), not many people would be late for school - as most don’t start til 9 or five past. (Unspotted by anyone else this - thanks).
*Chris was also angry at Dave, saying that A Tribe Called Quest were not a one hit wonder band. Dave said they were, as he was classing “a hit” as top 20 only, therefore excluding such classic songs of theirs such as “Bonita Applebum” (no really), and “Stressed Out”, featuring Faith Evans and Rafael Saadiq. Who can forget it eh?

TRACK INFO: - Released January 1991
    - Got to number 15 (*cue debate above*) and spent 7 weeks on the chart

    - MC FACT ATTACK: - 1). Yes that is Pete Tong’s voice at the start of the track. 2). The last time this was a Tedious Link was on 13th January 2004, in the second week of Chris’s all new Breakfast show.
    - ALBUM DETAILS: - Taken from A Tribe Called Quest’s May 1990 debut “People’s Instinctive Travels and The Paths Of Rhythm”... which sadly never made The UK’s Top 40 albums (it got to number 54).

The Farm Groovy Train - The Farm’s “All Together Now” was re released in 1995 by Everton FC to celebrate their Cup final appearance and subsequent victory over Manchester United - Manchester United have just been bought by American businessman Malcolm Glazer, who also owns the Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Tampa Bay is in Florida - Florida is a major producer of orange juice, which the Americans like to call “OJ” - O.J. Simpson is famous for being an actor who starred in Naked Gun alongside Leslie Nielsen - Leslie Nielsen shares the same first name as both Leslie Garrett and Leslie Grantham - Grantham is in Lincolnshire, and is the town that spawned ex prime minister Margaret Thatcher - A thatcher is someone who makes traditional thatched rooves - “Rooves” shares many of the same letters as “hooves”, which are what horses and reindeer have instead of feet - Feet need to be washed, as does hair - Hair can be short or long depending on who’s wearing it, and some people don’t have any hair at all, which is also cool - “Cool” would be something of an understatement when describing a frozen lake, which could be perilous if you were to fall in and get trapped under the ice - and if you did get trapped under ice and were fortunate enough to get rescued just in time, you’d have to consider yourself a very “lucky man” - Which links us to The Verve and Lucky Man (classic tuneage - MC)

    - FLAWS: - Controversial one today..
*Pretty crucially, if you did get trapped under ice and were fortunate enough to get rescued just in time - and were a woman - you’d be a ”lucky woman”, not a “lucky man”. Buggers up the link big time that one.
*O.J. Simpson is arguably more famous for being an NFL American Football player than starring in Naked Gun. Oh and arguably more famous for... no lets not go there eh.
*Mrs Jones (aka Rachel’s mum and newly retired teacher) was also on the line during half time to clear up the rooves/roofs debate going on on the text. Dave turned out to be right in a way so we’ll leave it at that why don’t we.

TRACK INFO: - Released December 1997
    - A blinding track.. reached no. 7 and ran for 13 wks on the chart.

    - MC FACT ATTACK: - This was the final single released with the band together. They announced that they'd split on 28th April 1999. The first sign of probems was guitarist Nick McCabe not finishing the band's world tour dates in Summer 1998. Richard Ashcroft of course went solo (new album due soon surely?).
    - ALBUM DETAILS: - Taken from “Urban Hymns” of course, which went gold in 17 countries and became the first album to ever sell a million copies in the UK in two successive years (97/98). Won A Best Album Brit too in 98, plus got to number one in, and spent 102 weeks on, the UK Album Chart. Not bad for a band from Wigun eh?

The Shamen Ebeneezer Goode - “Shamen” shares many of the same letters as “stamen”, which is a part of a flower - The plural of flower is flowers, which are always a good fall-back present if you don’t know what to buy for a girl - “Girl From Mars” was a hit ten years ago, scarily, for Ash - If you add a G to the front of “ash” you get “gash”, which is what you might get on your knee if you fell off your bike - Bike riders should always wear a protective helmet on their head for added safety - “Safety Dance” was a 1983 hit for Men Without Hats - Hats have always been a big passion for Sir Elton John - “Elton John” isn’t actually Elton John’s real name, as his real name is actually Reginald Dwight - Dwight Yorke is the father of Katie Price’s baby Harvey - Harvey first name Brian, the former East 17 star, now goes out with model Emma B - and Emma B, along with top celebrities such as Dave Morgan, Emma Noble, Ron Jeremy, Flavor Flav, Cicciolina, Charlene Tilton, Keith Harris, Orville, Lionel Blair and Mikey Green, is starring in the current series of The Farm - Which links us predictably to The Farm and Groovy Train

    - FLAWS: - Two mistakes on the old Tedious today:
*Emma B and Brian Harvey have split up
*Hats haven’t necessarily been a passion of Elton John’s just because he wears a lot of them. Cue Chris’s underpant example...

TRACK INFO: - Released September 1990
    - Reached number six, spending ten weeks on the chart in total (incidentally charting in the month Mark Goodier first took over The Top 40 on Radio 1.. mmm nice chart).

    - MC FACT ATTACK: - The Farm's debut album Spartacus is one of the more ridiculous by-products of the baggy Madchester scene, containing all of its rolling, neo-psychedelic grooves and blissfully colorful pop hooks, yet very little of its charm, character, or substance. Oh and I wrote that all myself btw, mmm hmm.
    - ALBUM DETAILS: - You can get it on “Alltogethernow -The Very Best Of The Farm”, a double CD and video album released last year to coincide with an England remix of “All Together Now” being issued for Euro 2004.

Jamiroquai Cosmic Girl (live) - “Cosmic girl” is how you’d refer to a woman who was from space - Space is the final frontier, which is only really accessible if you have a shuttle or a rocket - Rocket of a different type is also a peppery flavoured leaf used in salad - “Salad” rhymes with “Aled”, as in our very own Aled Haydn Jones out there on the phones - “Phones” is a good example of a word that starts with a “Fer” sound, but is actually spelt with a “Ph”, a bit like “Philip” - Philip is the husband of the Queen - Queen have reached number one twice with the same record, “Bohemian Rhapsody”, which was included in the film “Wayne's World” - Wayne's World starred Dana Carvey and Mike Myers - Mike Myers was born in Canada, which is one of the biggest countries in the world - “World Shut Your Mouth” was a top 19 hit for Julian Cope in 1986, the same year that “Caravan Of Love” topped the charts for The Housemartins - The Housemartins was the band that launched the musical career of Norman Cook - Norman Cook, or Fatboy Slim as he’s also known, is a top DJ in the disco circuit, a bit like Dave Pearce and Mr C - and Mr C used to front a band called The Shamen - Which links us to The Shamen and Ebeneezer Goode

    - FLAWS: - Seamless surprisingly, despite the usual protests about Mike Myers and where he was born. Led onto a very funny half time sequence involving www.imdb.com, which btw has now changed Daves profile from “Broadcast Assistant” to “Director Of Comedy” on The Chris Moyles Show.

TRACK INFO: - Released September 1992
    - A UK number one single, which spent ten weeks on the chart and apparently reminds Dave of his “college days”. aaahh bless.

    - MC FACT ATTACK: - Despite Chris saying it was crap, I still think its gotta go down as one of the better records released in 1992. The best by far, of course, being Motorcycle Emptiness by the Manics (who really should be featured on Tedious some time soon by Dave, please anyway).
    - ALBUM DETAILS: - Lifted from the album “Boss Drum”, which reached number 3 in the UK album chart back in September 92, and ran on there for a total of 35 weeks. A f-f-fact to finish the week.

Guns 'N' Roses Sweet Child O' Mine - Guns 'N' Roses’ Axl Rose was born William Axl Rose in Indiana - Indiana Jones the movie character was played by Harrison Ford, who now goes out with Calista Flockhart from Ally McBeal - Ally McBeal shares the same first name as Ally McCoist, who is mates with Carol Smilie, who now does “People's Court” - Caught of a different type is what happens to unlucky fish - Fish was the lead singer of Marillion, who had a 1985 hit with “Kayleigh” - Ceilidh, albeit spelt differently, is a celebratory Scottish dance, while “Dance The Night Away” was a hit for the Mavericks - The Mavericks are from America, as is Michael Douglas - Michael Douglas is married to Catherine Zeta Jones, who used to be in the Darling Buds of May with David Jason, who starred in Only Fools And Horses as Del Boy, the older brother of Rodney, whose favourite word was “cosmic” - Which means basically that Rodney's girlfriend Cassandra was his “cosmic Girl” - Which links us to a very special live version of Jamiroquai and Cosmic Girl, recorded yesterday by Jay Kay and his band especially for The Chris Moyles Show

    - FLAWS: - A couple:
*A Ceilidh is technically a collection of dances.
*Plus, spotted by moi and no one else seamingly, how can Dave justify that Cassandra is Rodney’s “cosmic girl”, just cos “cosmic” is his favourite word. If “tangerine” was her favourite word, would that mean that Rodney was in fact a tangerine? Er no I’ll think you find. Fact, I win.

TRACK INFO: - Released December 1996
    - Reached number six, spending ten weeks on the chart in total.

    - MC FACT ATTACK: - Hmm. The second Jamiroquai Tedious track in two weeks? Per-lease. I’m very much from the Mark and Lard school of thinking when it comes to Jamiroquai I’m afraid. They’re dull. No more thanks. (Granted that was more of an opinion than fact..).
    - ALBUM DETAILS: - Taken from the number 2 album “Travelling Without Moving” (released September 96), which amazingly sold 7 million copies worldwide.

Oasis She’s Electric - “She’s Electric” is the way you might describe a female eel - The plural of eel is eels, which when surved in jelly are a delicacy eaten by cockneys - Cockneys live in the East End of London, and are known as east enders - “EastEnders” is the name of a long running BBC soap opera, set in Albert Square - A square in the world of maths is a four sided shape with four 90° angles - “Angles” is an anagram of “Angels”, which was 1997 hit for Robbie Williams - Robbie Williams shares the same surname as Kenneth Williams, who starred in many of the Carry On films - Films of a different type are what you take to be developed, while “developed” is a word associated with countries - Countries are what make up continents, and continents make up the world - “World” is the name of a nightclub in Warrington, as is “Mr. Smiths”, which was a regular filming location for The Hitman and Her, which featured Pete Waterman and Michaela Strachan - Michaela Strachan shares the same surname as Gordon Strachan - Gordon Strachan used to play for Leeds United, who are now in the same league as Stoke - and Stoke-On-Trent is the birthplace of guitarist Saul Hudson, who is better known to us all around the world as Slash from Guns 'N' Roses - Which links us to a bit of classic Guns 'N' Roses action in the form of Sweet Child O' Mine

    - FLAWS: - Two this morning:
*World in Warrington actually closed three years ago, so the past tense should really have been used.
*There are no countries in the continent of Antarctica, so technically countries don’t always make up countries. Hmm. I dont give a sh*t.

    TRACK INFO: - Released August 1988 & June 1989
    - Originally reached number 24 (spending 8 weeks on the chart) + then got to no. 6 on remix in 89, running for a total of 9 weeks on that occasion.

    - MC FACT ATTACK: - Axl Rose wrote this track about his girlfriend, Erin Everly, who is the daughter of Don Everly of the Everly Brothers. They married in 1990 but divorced a month later.... you got it, tis a fact.
    - ALBUM DETAILS: - Of course, from the one and only “Appetite For Destruction”. a US number one and UK top 5 album back in 1987, spending 158 weeks (wowsers!) on the UK album chart.

No Doubt Don’t Speak - Yesterday’s Tedious Link choice of No Doubt and Don’t Speak, as we just said, was live standing on the beach - “The Beach” was the title of a movie starring Leonardo Di Caprio, the soundtrack to which featured the All Saints track “Pure Shores” - If you remove the R from “shores” you’re left with “shoes”, which are very muddy after this weekend - “Weekend” was a top 12 hit in 2003 for Scooter - Scooter are from Germany, as are Jürgen Klinsmann and Boris Becker - Boris Becker was once apparently caught with his pants down in the aptly named London restaurant “Nobu” - If you reverse the letter sequence of Nobu and replace the B for a D you get “Udon”, which I think are a type of noodle - “Noodle” rhymes with “poodle”, which is a short and curly French dog - The plural of dog is dogs, which should be kept on a lead in public - Public is the opposite of private - “Private Parts” was a film about and starring the American DJ Howard Stern - Stern John plays his football for Coventry City - Coventry City are one of the many clubs managed by Peter Reid, as are Manchester City, who count amongst their numerous celebrity fans, Noel and Liam Gallagher, who along with the rest of Oasis, we’ll see tonight in concert in London - Which links us by way of a little warm up, to Oasis and She’s Electric

    - FLAWS: - Nope... Flawless, like The Ones.

    TRACK INFO: - N/A
    - Never released as a single, and just goes to show the amount of superb tracks on this album, which shockingly is ten years old later this year.

    - MC FACT ATTACK: - Don’t Believe The Truth... countdown minus 20 days. All you need really ain’t it?
    - ALBUM DETAILS: - As if you didn’t know already, taken from “(What's The Story) Morning Glory?”... weeeeeeeeellll, need a little time to wake up, wake up!!! ahem.

    SPECIAL BEACHFRONT EDITION

Elvis Presley Can’t Help Falling In Love - “Can’t Help Falling In Love With You” is a terrace anthem of the fans of Sunderland AFC, who yesterday saw their side round off a glorious Championship winning campaign with a 1-0 win over Stoke City - Stoke City’s famous fans include TV’s Nick Hancock, off of They Think It’s All Over - “They Think It’s All Over” is a now famous quotation that was first uttered in 1966 by the late Kenneth Wolstenholme - Kenneth Wolstenholme shared the same first name as Kenneth Branagh, whose mates with Emma Thompson, while Emma Thompson shares the same surname as Daley Thompson, who’s a former Olympic athlete - Athlete were part of the stunning line up of Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Sunderland, which also included Katie Tunstall, Rooster, Natalie Imbruglia, Kasabian, The Chemical Brothers, The Foo Fighters, The Bravery, Lemar, The Kaiser Chiefs, The Black Eyed Peas, Basement Jaxx, Jamiroquai and Gwen Stefani - and before Gwen Stefani started to do her solo thing with the Harajuku girls, she was in a band called No Doubt (MC - and still is I think) - Which links us to a bit of classic Tedious Link action, right by the seaside here in Seaburn, No Doubt and Don’t Speak

    - FLAWS: - Well the only real flaw was choosing this just seconds after a live Gwen Stefani track... so bar that seamless.

TRACK INFO: - Released February 1997
    - Quite rightly a number one single (and by some considerable distance No Doubt’s biggest hit), spending 18 weeks on the chart and 3 at number one.

    - MC FACT ATTACK: - Gwen’s brother Eric Stefani used to be a member of said band No Doubt until he left in 1994. To eventually work as an animator for The Simpsons as it turns out. FACT.
    - ALBUM DETAILS: - Available on No Doubt’s 1992-2003 Best Of CD, which is well worth buying if you’ve a few bob going spare. Only £9.99 on play.com at the minute too..

Kasabian L.S.F - Kasabian are playing Radio 1’s Big Weekend here in Sunderland tomorrow, and have a lead singer called Tom - Tom is also the name of one half of The Chemical Brothers, who are also on tomorrows bill - Bill Beaumont used to be on A Question Of Sport along with Ian Botham and David Coleman - David Coleman shares the same surname as Fulham manager Chris Coleman, while the name “Coleman” is also synonymous with mustard - Mustard is often served with roast beef - Beef comes from cows - Cows live in a field - “Field Of Dreams” is a crap film about baseball starring Kevin Costner - Kevin Costner shares the same christian name as former Sunderland striker Kevin Phillips, who is now at Southampton, who could quite possibly be facing relegation from the Premiership, to make way for the now promoted champions of The Championship, Sunderland A.F.C - and when Sunderland secured promotion a fortnight ago with a home win against Leicester City, 40 000 voices joined in celebration to sing the following song - Which links us to a very topical Tedious Link track, Elvis Presley and Can't Help Falling In Love

(I would have thought We Are The Champions by Queen was a more appropriate choice but there you go)..

    - FLAWS: - Nah, I get the impression no one can be arsed checking on Fridays (me included). Seamless.

TRACK INFO: - Released February 1962 as a B side to Rock A Hula Baby
    - Needless to say, got to number one, spending a total of 20 weeks on the chart. Also reached number 3 upon re-release back in March this year...

    - MC FACT ATTACK: - Todays fact is more of an opinion to be honest - I am bored to death of Elvis. Old music for old people. D-U-L-L.
    - ALBUM DETAILS: - Track 2 on February 2005’s Best Of “Love Elvis” compilation. So far 17 tracks by Elvis have been re issued and back in the charts in 2005, all of which have gone top 5 without exception.

Jamiroquai Space Cowboy - Space Cowboy was a hit in 1994, the same year that the World Cup was held in America - America is the home of Patrick Swayze and Billy Bob Thornton - Billy Bob Thornton used to go out with Angelina Jolie, who now goes out with Brad Pitt, whose just filed for divorce from Jennifer Aniston - Jennifer Aniston is of Greek descent, as is Nemone - Nemone is a good runner, as is Dwain Chambers - Chambers are found in a pistol - A pistol was the weapon of choice for highwaymen such as Dick Turpin - Turpintine is a type of white spirit - “Spirit In The Sky” has been a number one for three different artists, the first being Norman Greenbaum, before being covered by Dr. & The Medics, and then most recently Gareth Gates & The Kumars - The Kumars live at number 42 - 42 divided by 7 is 6, whilst 6 plus 4 is 10 - “Ten” was a film starring Bo Derek, who those horrible hair braids, a bit like that Michelle *chicken* bird who’s all over OK magazine showing off her new fake boobs, because she obviously thinks she is a fox - The plural of fox is “foxes”, which is the nickname of Leicester City - and Leicester City is the football club of choice for the band Kasabian - Which links us to Kasabian and L.S.F

    - FLAWS: - Yeah, useless link (and track) today:
*Billy Bob Thornton was actually married to Angelina Jolie
*Jennifer Aniston filed for divorce from Brad Pitt, not the other way round
*Musket is arguably the weapon of choice for highwaymen such as Dick Turpin
    *It’s “Turpentine” not Turpintine...

TRACK INFO: - Released August 2004
    - Reached number 10, but is too modern for my little old book here to tell me how long it was in the chart... sincere apologies.

    - MC FACT ATTACK: - They are from Leicester and cite The Rolling Stones, Happy Mondays and Primal Scream among their rock influences... that’ll do.
    - ALBUM DETAILS: - Taken from their self titled debut “Kasabian”, a top four hit back in September of last year. Which by the way, is sh*te. Thank god I was lent it and never bought it... three good tracks max (not including this btw).

Foo Fighters Breakout - The Foo Fighters’ second album, released in 1997, was called “The Colour And The Shape” - The colour and the shape are two important considerations when purchasing fruit - Fruit grows on trees - Trees are a major provider of environmental oxygen - Oxygen is an element that appears on the periodic table - A table of a different type is where you might eat your dinner - “Dinner” rhymes with “Winner”, as in Michael Winner, who directed “Death Wish” starring Charles Bronson - Charles Bronson also starred in the 1993 film “The Sea Wolf” - Wolf was a famous gladiator - "Gladiator" the movie was directed by Ridley Scott, whose new film “Kingdom Of Heaven” stars Orlando Bloom - Orlando Bloom is from Canterbury, which is famous for its arch bishop - An arch bishop is someone you’d expect to wear a large hat, a bit like Jay Kay - Jay Kay is the man behind Jamiroquai - and when you think of Jamiroquai in the context of space and cowboys, or indeed space cowboys, you think of the track Space Cowboy by Jamiroquai - Which links us (MC- rather suprisingly) to Jamiroquai and Space Cowboy

    - FLAWS: - Er just minor quibbles not worth mentioning, so we’ll give Dave the benefit of the doubt on this occasion.

TRACK INFO: - Released October 1994
    - Reached number 17 in the UK Charts and spent 5 weeks in The Top 40...

    - MC FACT ATTACK: - Like the Foos yesterday, and presumably whoever is played tomorrow, Jamiroquai are gonna be at Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Sunderland this weekend... but you already knew that anyway didn’t you? yeah, BECAUSE THEY GO ON ABOUT IT EVERY 2 SECONDS!!!! SHUT THE FECK UP PLEEEEEEEASE! We know it’s on this weekend.
    - ALBUM DETAILS: - Taken from the second Jamiroquai album “The Return Of The Space Cowboy”, released a fortnight after the single back in Oct 94. Reached number 2 and spent 29 weeks on the chart...

Leftfield Open Up - Leftfield were the musical vehicle of John Lydon, whose punk alter ego was as Sex Pistols frontman Johnny Rotten - “Rotten” is a word associated with fruit, veg and teeth - Teeth need to be cleaned, as do windows and shoes - Shoes have heels - If you remove the first letter of “heels” you’re left with “Eels”, who had two top ten hits in 1997, in the shape of “Novocaine For The Soul” and “Susan’s House” - Susan Sarandon is an actress who starred in Thelma and Louise alongside Gina Davis - Gina Davis shares the same surname as Sean Davis, who plays for Tottenham - Tottenham beat Villa 5-1 at White Hart Lane on Sunday - A sundae of a different type is something you might have for pudding - “Pudding” shares many of the same letters as “budding”, which is what a plant might be doing in spring - Spring is one of the four seasons, while “Four Seasons” is the name of a hotel and a pizza - Pizza can trace its routes back to Italy, as can Robert De Niro - Robert De Niro starred in the 1991 film “Cape Fear”, where he played a baddie who’d just been released from prison - and if you were in prison and had no chance of being released, you might be tempted to breakout - Which links us to Swing Out Sister... nah only joking, to the Foo Fighters and Breakout

    - FLAWS: - Nah, just classic reminiscing about Dave crowd surfing in a seated position (no spilt beer) to the Foo Fighters back in 2003. Glory days eh?

TRACK INFO: - Released September 2000
    - Only hit a disappointing 29 in the UK Top 40, hanging around for a total of 3 weeks.

    - MC FACT ATTACK: - Great record, and the Foos are headlining Reading and Leeds again this summer (hurrah!). I’ll be at Leeds seeing them headline the main stage on the Sunday night, whereas the previous night they’ll be on the main stage at Reading... amazing huh? Yeah I know not really..
    - ALBUM DETAILS: - Taken from the Foos third studio album, “There Is Nothing Left To Lose”, which went top 10 back in November 99. Also featured the single “Learn To Fly”.
