Radiohead Creep - Creep is what you’d have to do on your tippy toes if you were trying to sneak into somebody’s bedroom and steal something from their bedside table while they were asleep - Asleep is the opposite of awake - A wake of a different type is what you often have after a funeral - Funeral For A Friend are from Wales and have a new record out called “History” - History is all about stuff that took place in the past - If you add an A onto the end of past you get “pasta”, which is the general term for stuff like tagliatelle and spaghetti and stuff - Spaghetti is not easy to eat and is not an advisable choice of meal if you’re out on a date - A date of a different type is a kind of sticky fruit thing - Fruit is often used as an ingredient in the world of desserts, which can often be made from custard or trifle or chocolate - Chocolate is a very versatile food which can be moulded into all sorts of different shapes, including animals, if necessary - An if you wanted to make, say, a puma entirely out of chocolate, as an impressive speciality dessert, then I suppose you’d describe it simply as a “chocolate puma” - Which links us cleverly to Friday fun in the form of Chocolate Puma and I Wanna Be U

    - SEAMLESS?: - No. Very very tenuous though, especially with the moulding animals out of chocolate thing. Dunno if that’s something Dave does in his spare time or what.

TRACK INFO: - Released March 2001
    - Got to number six in the charts kids, with 9 weeks on there altogether.

    - MC FACT ATTACK: - We don’t say it very often with Tedious Link now 3+ years old, but that was a DEBUT play on Tedious for this track.
    - ALBUM DETAILS: - Get it on CD1 of the 2001 compilation Now 48 - alongside stuff by Hearsay, S Club 7, Atomic Kitten, Steps, Mel B, Bob The Builder, DJ Luck & MC Neat. That good, trust me.

East 17 Deep - East 17 once did a record with Gabrielle - Gabrielle is famous for wearing a patch on her eye, a bit like a pirate - “Pirate radio” is a phrase that applies to a radio station that broadcasts without a licence - “Licence” is a word that is often associated with driving - “Driving In My Car” was a 1982 hit for Madness - Madness are led by lead singer Suggs - “Suggs” rhymes with “hugs”, which are what you might give someone that you haven’t seen for a very long time - “Long Time Coming” was a hit last year for The Delays (MC - top band) - Delays are something that you’d expect when travelling by train - The train is probably the best and quickest way to travel from London to York - If you add an E onto the end of York you get “Yorke”, as in Thom Yorke, who’s the lead singer of the band Radiohead - and Radiohead had a 1993 hit with Creep, which was a track taken from their album “The Bends” - Which links us to Radiohead and Creep (and thankfully for Chris - the clean version)

    - SEAMLESS?: - Noooooooooooooo:
*Creep wasn’t of course taken from The Bends, it was from Pablo Honey. Dave called it a deliberate mistake. I call it a flaw.

TRACK INFO: - Released September 1993
    - The first of their as yet 7 top tens actually got to number 7, with 6 weeks on the countdown.

    - MC FACT ATTACK: - Creep was originally released in September 1992, when it sold only 6000 copies and made number 78 in the UK Charts. It was re issued a year later following on from the success of the album. Also, one of only two good Radiohead songs according to Comedy Dave.
    - ALBUM DETAILS: - As you've heard already, from Radiohead’s debut “Pablo Honey”, which only originally got to number 22 in the album chart.. but then proceeded to stay there for 82 flippin weeks. Eee by gum.

Bon Jovi Livin' On A Prayer - Livin' On A Prayer was taken from the classic album entitled “Slippery When Wet” - Wet is the opposite of dry in the world of weather, while dry is the opposite of sweet in the world of wine - Wine is made from grapes - Grapes are a good thing to take with you when you go and visit somebody in hospital - Hospital is where you go when you are sick - “Sick” is a word often associated with parrots, which is quite apt at the moment, with the international threat of bird flu - A flu of a different type is something you’d find on your boiler - My boiler is powered by gas - “Gas” is what the Americans call “petrol” - Petrol fluctuates in price, depending on the international price of oil - Oil is sold by the barrell, as is beer - The first letter of the word “beer” is B, as in Emma B the model, who comes from Hastings - Emma B the model goes out with Brian Harvey, who bizarrely ran over himself recently, with his own car - But before all that, Brian used to be in a band with Tony Mortimer, and two other fellas that used to dance in the back, and they were called East 17 - Which links us, in my opinion, to possibly the greatest record they did, East 17 and Deep

    - SEAMLESS?: - Yes. Some people said it wasn’t, but according to Dave they were wrong. I’ll go along with that. Saves me writing stuff in this bit.

TRACK INFO: - Released January 1993
    - Spent ten weeks on the Official UK Chart, reaching number five.

    - MC FACT ATTACK: - Last played as a Tedious on August 17th 2004... that’s the best I can come up with folks.
    - ALBUM DETAILS: - From East 17’s debut February 1993 album “Walthamstow”.. a number one smash that spent 33 weeks on the album chart in 1993.

De La Soul 3 Is The Magic Number - 3 Is The Magic Number was taken from the classic album “3 Feet High And Rising” - “Rising damp” can be a problem in basement flats, and was also the title of a 1970’s comedy starring Leonard Rossiter - Leonard Rossiter shares the same christian name as Leonard Nimoy, who played Spock in Star Trek - Star Trek is set almost entirely in space - “Space” is also the name of a club in Ibiza - Ibiza is somewhere that we’ve DJ’d, and so good were we, that we were asked to play in a proper nightclub by DJ Dave Pearce - Dave Pearce presents Dance Anthems - Anthems of a different type are often played at the Olympics - The Olympics are going to be held in London in 2012, after we successfully beat off the French - The French are one of the few nations in the world to eat horse, unlike the Italians who prefer to eat pasta - The Italians are a big immigrant population in America, which is obvious from names like “Al Pacino”, “Danny DeVito” and of course “John Bon Jovi” - and when you think of John Bon Jovi and the band which bares his name, you think of Bon Jovi - Which links us to Bon Jovi and Livin' On A Prayer

    - SEAMLESS?: - Not quite again for a second day running:
*The Italians, as well as the French, apparently also like to eat horse (according to the texts). It’s on the menu in places like Milan and Rome, which Dave quite rightly stated, are in Italy. I know, amazing.

TRACK INFO: - Released October 1986
    - Reached number four and spent 15 weeks inside the Top 40.

    - MC FACT ATTACK: - Based entirely on weeks on the chart, Bon Jovi are the 47th most successful act of all time in this country. Fact. Unfortunately.
    - ALBUM DETAILS: - Bon Jovi fans you can get it on “Crossroad - The Best Of Bon Jovi”, a number one UK album from back in the day. October 1994 to be exact.

Black Legend You See The Trouble With Me - You See The Trouble With Me topped the charts in the year 2000 - 2000 divided by ten is 200, which in metres is a popular distance for hurdling - If you swap the H of “hurdling” for a N, and then drop the L, you get “Nurding”, which is the maiden name of Louise Redknapp - Louise Redknapp is married to Jamie Redknapp, whose Dad is Harry Redknapp, the boss of Southampton - Southampton is the home city of both Craig David and Scott Mills - Scott Mills is back from his holidays and on today from 4 - 4 is the second best thing you can do as a batsman in the game of cricket - Cricket is a sport where traditionally the participants dress in all white, and in that respect share something in common with tennis - If you add up all of the letters in the word “tennis”, the number that you get is the number 6 - Half of 6 is 3 - and 3 is, of course, as we all know, the magic number - Which links us cleverly to De La Soul and 3 Is The Magic Number

    - SEAMLESS?: - Nope:
*200 in metres is not a popular distance for hurdling. In fact it’s so unpopular that no one does it.. anymore at least. They did in the 1900 Olympic Games, which Dave said he, as a traditionalist, was naturally referring to.

TRACK INFO: - Released December 1989
    - Reached number seven and spent 8 weeks on the chart.

    - MC FACT ATTACK: - Think this tune, think this. Fact.
    - ALBUM DETAILS: - From “3 Feet High And Rising”, the March 1989 album that is consistently accredited as one of the most influential rap LP’s of all time. Produced by Prince Paul.

Jane’s Addiction Been Caught Stealing - Stealing is illegal and can, in many cases, result in a custodial sentence - A sentence of a different type is what you find in a book - “Book” is a word which, for some reason, is associated with worms - Worms can also live inside a dog, and if your dog has worms, it’s probably a good idea to get it down to the vets - “Vets” rhymes with “pets”, as in “Pets Win Prizes”, which used to be hosted by Dale Winton - Dale Winton is a friend of this show and also a friend of Cilla Black and Barbara Windsor - Windsor Castle is one of the official residences of the Queen - Queen the band were fronted by the enigmatic Freddie Mercury - Freddie Mercury was one of those great showmen who no doubt had a influence, among with many other people, on Mr Robbie Williams - Today is Robbie Williams Day, you probably heard, spread the word - and Robbie Williams once recorded a song called “Millennium” - The last Millennium celebration took place in the year 2000 - and it was in the year 2000 that Black Legend hit the top of the charts with You See The Trouble With Me - Which links us to todays Friday dance classic, Black Legend and You See The Trouble With Me

    - SEAMLESS?: - Again, yes. Wow.

TRACK INFO: - Released June 2000
    - Spent 15 weeks on the chart, the first of those at number one.

    - MC FACT ATTACK: - Coincidentally this track made its last appearance as a Tedious Link on Friday 22nd October 2004. It now being Friday 21st October 2005.. is Dave looking back because he is struggling to find new choices by any chance? Hmm.
    - ALBUM DETAILS: - You can get You See The Trouble With Me on import via Amazon or alternatively on Now 46... because there never was a Black Legend album believe it or not. Disgraceful.

Manic Street Preachers La Tristesse Durera (Scream To A Sigh) - The Manic Street Preachers are fronted by James Dean Bradfield - If you remove the “Bradfield” part of James Dean Bradfield you get “James Dean”, who’s a famous iconic film star who died in a car crash in the 1950’s - The 1950’s is the decade in which the film “Grease” was set - Grease starred Olivia Newton John and John Travolta - John Travolta was also the lead in “Get Shorty” and “Pulp Fiction” - Fiction is the section that you find in a library - A library is somewhere where you find it “oh so quiet” - “It's Oh So Quiet” was a hit for Björk in 1995, the same year curiously that N-Trance had a hit with “Set You Free” - Free had a big hit years ago with “All Right Now”, which provided the soundtrack to a famous advert for chewing gum - Gum is something that might annoy you if you were to step in it, and in that respect shares something in common with dog poo - Dog poo can be a real problem in some areas, where it fouls the pavement - “Pavement” are the name of an American band that you might have heard years ago with Steve Lamacq - and in that respect they share something in common with Jane's Addiction - Which links us to a bit of classic Jane's Addiction action in the form of Been Caught Stealing

    - SEAMLESS?: - Aye.

TRACK INFO: - Released March 1991
    - This track got to number 34, spending 3 weeks in The UK Top 40.

    - MC FACT ATTACK: - Dave Navarro was in the Red Hot Chili Peppers from 1993-1997 either side of spells with Jane’s Addiction. But you probably already knew that. He’s banging Carmen Electra too. Fact.
    - ALBUM DETAILS: - From the September 1990 album “Ritual De Lo Habitual” (don’t ask), which only spent 2 weeks on the UK Album Chart and peaked at a sparkling number er, 37. Lovely.

LL Cool J Phenomenon - LL Cool J was born "James Todd Smith" in St. Albans in New York - New York used to be called "New Amsterdam", while "Constantinople" is the old name for Istanbul - Istanbul is the city that is said to be at the crossroads of two continents, those being Asia and Europe - "Asia" and "Europe" are both names of bands, with Europe being the better known, thanks to their 1986 hit "The Final Countdown" - Countdown was the first show ever to be broadcast on Channel 4 - 4 is the square route of the number 16 - 16 times 2 is 32, which is a popular bust size for women - Women make up almost exactly 50% of the population of the planet earth - "Planet Earth" was the first hit in 1981 for Duran Duran - Duran Duran were formed in Birmingham - Birmingham is approximately 100 miles from Cardiff, which is the capital of Wales - and when you think of Wales and it's musical roots, you think of Charlotte Church and Aled Jones, and Shirley Bassey and Tom Jones, and Cerys Matthews and the Stereophonics, and Bryn Terfel and The Alarm, and the Super Furry Animals, and of course who could forget... The Manic Street Preachers - Which links us to (MC - the best band in the world) Manic Street Preachers and La Tristesse Durera (Scream To A Sigh)

    - SEAMLESS?: - I'm not happy.. Moyles took the piss out of this tune, well kind of. Its title anyway. Great choice by Dave though. I ain't even bothering with flaws today because it was just so good to hear some decent music on Radio 1 for a change.*applauds*

TRACK INFO: - Released July 1993
    - Reached number twenty-two and spent a total of five weeks on the singles chart.

    - MC FACT ATTACK: - Literally translated in French "La Tristesse Durera" means "the sadness endures", as said by Vincent Van Gogh before he died in 1890. The track itself was written not about Van Gogh, but about the way things in life won't get better when you get older. Described as "the last great baggy single" by music journalists, it is also the only recording in Manics history to have Richey playing on it. Fact.
    - ALBUM DETAILS: - From the Manics' second album "Gold Against The Soul", which was a top 8 hit back in July 93. Not their best work by some distance, but worth the purchase alone for La Tristesse, Roses In The Hospital, From Despair To Where and Sleepflower.

Oasis Acquiesce - "Acquiesce" is a good example of a word that I didn't know the meaning of until yesterday, but according to the dictionary it means "to consent or comply passively without protest" - Protest is something that is often political - the word "political" is derived from the word "politics", which is what Tony Blair and William Hague do - William Hague shares the same christian name as William Orbit, who produced the "Ray Of Light" album for Madonna - Madonna's new single was first played yesterday by Spoony, and features a sample from Abba - The word "Abba" is a palindrome, a bit like the word "racecar" - A racecar is what Ralf and Michael Schumacher drive - Ralf and Michael Schumacher are from Germany - Germany is a nice country full of nice people and somewhere we hope to visit next summer - Summer, first name Donna, was born in America in the year 1948 - and if you scroll forward 20 years to 1968, you get to the birth year of another famous American recording artist, his name being LL Cool J - Which links us to LL Cool J and Phenomenon

    - SEAMLESS?: - Dave said this track is one of his "urban licks", although of course where the link goes.. nobody knows:
*According to some texters, "race car" is not really a palindrome as it is technically two words. I ain't sure.

TRACK INFO: - Released November 1997
    - Spent five weeks on the chart, peaking inside the top ten at number nine.

    - MC FACT ATTACK: - Ladies Love Cool James (aka LL Cool J) became the first solo rap artist to score a UK Top 10 hit when his 1987 tune "I Need Love" went top eight in September of that year. Fact.
    - ALBUM DETAILS: - From October 1997's album of the same title, "Phenomenon". Spent only four weeks on the album countdown and peaked at just number 37. Says a lot really. Rrrrrrrrrrubbish choice by Dave today.

P.S Thanks a lot to Console for helping me out with the audio from todays link. Due to various tedious reasons I can't access Listen Again at the moment so thanks.

Madonna Holiday - Madonna is married to Guy Ritchie, who is the guy who directed the films “Lock Stock..” and “Snatch” - “Snatch” is also a word associated with muggers and handbags - “Handbags & Gladrags” was covered a couple of years ago by the Stereophonics - Stereophonics have got a new drummer now, who I think is from South America somewhere - South America is the continent that consists of places like Brazil, Argentina and Peru - Peru is where Paddington Bear is from - Paddington Bear likes marmalade - Marmalade is made from oranges - Oranges grow on trees, with one of the biggest orange producing places being Jaffa, which is in the Middle East somewhere - The Middle East is where you’d find lots of sand and deserts and stuff - and sometimes in the middle of deserts, you get like a little pond or a lake or something, in the middle of nowhere, and this is what’s commonly known as an “Oasis” - Which links us to Oasis and the superb Acquiesce

    - SEAMLESS?: - Yes. Good comeback from Dave.

    TRACK INFO: - Released N/A
    - N/A

    - MC FACT ATTACK: - Never released as a single, as it was the B-Side to Oasis’s first UK number one, "Some Might Say" in April 1995. Voted second in 2002’s Q Magazine poll to find the fifty most popular Oasis songs - and one of only two Oasis songs featuring Liam and Noel on lead vocals (the other being "Let There Be Love" - the next single), Awesome live too.
    - ALBUM DETAILS: - Get it on November 1998’s B-Sides compilation “The Masterplan” - a brilliant album. So many tunes on there should have been singles too.. Acquiesce, Underneath The Sky, Fade Away, Half The World Away, Stay Young and The Masterplan to name but a few...
